DLC is a plague, milking people for features that should have been included in launch. If you are stupid enough to buy a DLC then I have absolutely no sympathy for you.

I won't mind paying for a DLC if it offers a lot of new content. It depends on the price and what you get.

I like the idea of play-for-free games and then paying for extras. It has its problems, but at least everyone can get the chance to play.

I know how you feel and I understand that. However, gaming isn't a cheap hobby to begin with. If you can't afford it then it's time to find another hobby.

DLC rarely costs more than $9 and is often released in three-month intervals. If you enjoy a game and WANT the DLC (DLC being pretty much optional) R75 every couple of months is hardly earth-shattering.

Otherwise just wait for the inevitable Game of the Year edition which contains all the DLC.

You always have a choice; no-one's put a gun to your head and said, "BUY THIS DLC OR ELSE!"

I agree and disagree with this...

Gaming is an expensive hobby to an extent, If we take the same sort of mentality and put it in another field it actually makes the thought of DLC sound really stupid, Now imagine you start playing guitar and the guitar comes with everything you need (Full Content in terms of games), then all of a sudden manufacturers start making electric guitars without pickups(Half developed games that we currently see) and say to get that its "extra content/hardware"(DLC in this case), you can still play the guitar and hear whats going on but now you are forced to pay for something that used to always be included. In fact you are now limited because you cant play your guitar on an amp because it has no way to transmit the signal of the strings(Or in terms of games, you cant play on the same maps as everyone else or you cant play with the same guns/vehicles etc..).

Sure the DLC might not be expensive but that's not the point, the point is we are constantly being ripped off these days. Everything carries on going up and salaries always stay the same or increase minimal amounts. You right that no one has put a gun to your head and say you have to buy it BUT it is not fair that what used to be free is now being charged for... I mean sure if you want to waste cash every 3 months on rubbish that SHOULD have been included in the original game then go ahead but i still think it should be included (Especially considering these developers push out a game a year..... its kind of a waste of cash buying DLC for a game you will play for a year when you are stuck in the middle class economy) And again you must wait for the GOTY edition before you get to play the full game how it should have been from the start, just another way for you to lose out because you missed the whole point of the launch day... but this is just my opinion.

My opinion on DLC is pretty simple: if it's something I want and at a justifiable price, I'll buy it. If it isn't, I won't.

I've only bought DLC for 2 games Magika and Orcs Must Die. Magika I bought for R68 and Orcs Must Die for R114.

The reason I don't mind is the games were cheap from the get go, and my dlc was priced for R6-R15 a pop. However paying $60 for a game then getting 3 DLC's at $15 is a crap load of money. And I won't ever pay that.

Hell I'm a huge RPG fan, I bought Final Fantasy X for R400 and played that game for over 300 hours. That's a worthwhile purchase.

Magicka DLC got a bit silly after a while but if you pick them up on a Christmas or Summer Sale, it's cheap enough to warrant a purchase IMO.

Generally avoid it. It's invariably overpriced relative to the original game. Usually either pointless junk or things that look very much like they were all developed at once, then someone decided what to cut out so they could sell it separately later. The most annoying offender to date has been the Xbox, trying to sell me things in the game. I quickly switched to keeping it disconnected from the internet while playing.

gonna wait for Falloot 3 collection which has all DLC packed in

Which will most likely be half the price of everything together anyway.

I happened to pick up a copy of Borderlands GOTY Edition and it includes all of the 4 DLC Packs worth 800MS Points each. And the game itself I found for R199... Score!

Wait, wait, wait.... There's a way to pirate DLC? uhm.. not that I pirate, it's just that I'm interested.. How would one pirate DLC on a Xbox 360?"whistling:

Chip ur xbox, then download from ur prefered torrent site. Dont forget to log into Xbox Live to get updates for ur DLC.

I don't buy dlc, I wish dlc would be done away with and full fledged expansions would make a bigger return as I feel expansions are starting to faze out. But don't make a game shorter just because in 6 months time you want to release the things that should have been in the game in the first place so that it doesn't take 8 hours to finish.

Why should I pay for stuff that used to be included in games for free?

Remember the days when free updates had free maps and stuff in them?
IMO, DLC packs are like Expansion packs.

Back in the day you'd buy a game and finish it. Later on they'd bring out an Expansion Pack for the game. You went out and bought it.

What makes this so different now?

If the DLC is good, why not buy it?
I'm sorry thats a bad analogy, Expansions where as long as the original game, if anything DLCs are overpriced, and even worse some of them are loaded on the release disc and you have to pay to unlock them, that is the worst IMO.
