Latly I have noticed a lot of people talking about their "LAN PC" I PC They Just Keep for taking to LANs I assume, How meny people have these?

yeah ! when im not lanning i use it as an internet pc/ media centre in the living room, I already have 2 main pc's for gaming, my personal design projects and the internet/ downloading etc

you dont need alot of cash to run 3pc's you just need to plan your uogrades properly. before i built the new athlon system i had an old age 8 year old athlon xp that i used for lanning, it could only run counterstrike source and unreal tourney 04, none of the new games.
believe i have had alot of pcs over the years see my cpu's http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php/photo/9809/ppuser/50524 and it wasnt that expensive to upgrade incrementaly, the only time i splashed out was when i built the i7 and phenom 2 system a few months ago and yet i regret now spending all that on those 2 pcs

Dude I'm a student, I just about finished 6 months savings (about R1800) upgrading my PC (One PC) to play latest games on medium to low..... (except for MW2 :D)

well i was a student 2 until the end of last year and what i did was work my ass of on weekends in a crappy retail store to finance my studies and my upgrades
 
You buy a PC, store it away and only use it when you go to lan... you then buy another pc because you dont use the lan PC other than lan?

Sounds like such a waste.
 
There should be a poll option of: "No, but I plan to get one."

Want to build a system around a Thermaltake LAN Party case. Hopefully it'll be done before rAge 2010.

If you have to lug a 30KG PC around to rAge and back you'd change your tune. :p But like Dohc says. Just use it as a media PC for the TV or as a server to store all your pron on. :D
 
My main screen is a 32" LCD tv ... I'm not dragging it's ass to a lan. Plus my pc is made from failsauce, so it's not kief at lanning anything newer than Counter Strike 1.4 :o
 
I haven't got a lan pc, I preffer to carry my 35kg case to lans, expecialy rage, its the only excercise I get! :p
 
Why is there an option "I Don't Lan" ?

Please remove it before I reach out and kill all who voted that option.

Not exactly how it works. LAN PCs are generally budget gaming PCs, built to play competitive games (which mostly have low requirements). Why? Well, the reason for me was that I didn't want to take my main gaming rig (which I generally keep as cutting edge as local distributors allow) to a big LAN only to have it get wrecked or stolen. I couldn't care less if my LAN rig got stolen or driven over since I can easily replace it.
 
i feel the same way Blackhand, that and something breaks in the pc while transporting it to such a LAN would make me very sad too
