Do you need to get laid?

I still vote kids need a damn good smack from time to time. I don't care how many child psychologists want to argue the point with me - corporal punishment is an acceptable recourse for disciplining a child under certain circumstances (you don't have to beat the crap out of them after all).

I saw a noisy kid like that mom was walking and he stops and turns into a little screaming terror, mom turns and looks at him and he sees that and starts screaming more (nearly bye bye shop windows) she just carries on walking away from him, he doesn't get the attention he wants so he stops and runs after mommy. People try to molly coddle their kids too much.

Beat the little shits I say.

I reckon that if someone had to go and do a study and correlate the time when crime started increasing and the time when corporal punishment in schools and as a sentence from a judge were banned, I'm sure you will find them at about the same time. Kids today get away with major shit because they know their are no consequences. And parents are also far too lax these days with discipline. They would rather just buy them another game or shove more money into their pockets. Fuck that, smack the little shit. He must know his place.

I remember being scared shitless of my dad when I was a kid. When he wanted to "gee my pak" it was going to happen, whether I liked it or not. Once I ran into my room and hid under my bed. He was klapping me with his belt under the bed! My mom said that whenever she saw we were about to get it, she ran away because she couldn't handle it, hahahaha!!!

But today I'm super greatful for strict parents, I don't think I turned out too bad :P

I agree, as long as you know why you're being smacked.

You stick you hands in fire you get burnt.

Also bananas. This thread has been derailed.

Totally. Discipline starts at home, BUT you still got parents back in my day (:p) that complained to the headmaster if little Johnny got a few shots with the cane for being naughty at school.

I say if they can't hear, they must feel.

I disagree. There is a much harsher way...... dum dum dum...
Stop buying them shit. And if they don't like it show them the door. :p
Also have rules. And don't let them get away with shit.

I totally agree!!! Kids do need a damn good hiding from time to time!!! Jeez I remember in Boarding school the amount of hidings I got from our hostel masters and our teachers... I swear I was immune to the hidings by the time I left school... oh and not forgetting the principal too hahaha...

I was at Parktown Boys' for those interested and yes the incident you for those of you who saw on Carte Blanche when there was the whole corporal punishment things going down, well I went through the exact same stuff and I came out fine... But thats because corporal punishment was allowed and if you complained to your parents, your parents told the teachers and hostel masters to continue... We all thought it was harsh but we just accepted it and continued...

Hey it builds character. If I got a hiding at school, my dad would give me another one. :p

Not really. Look at my family - my parents weren't big on buying us stuff. We got gifts and presents twice a year (around which time we'd be suspiciously well-behaved). No spoiling. Maybe a chocolate when we did something nice for mom/dad without them asking. Positive reinforcement.

But if I ever threw my toys out the cot a bloody good hiding was coming my way. I asked my mom one evening to pass the salt without saying please or thank you. 20 minutes later those words were a permanent part of my vocab.

I do think my dad went a little overboard sometimes (I got an epic beating once for a window my sister broke before he even tried finding out who actually broke the window, but in all fairness, I was usually the culprit), but now that I've lost my kiddie glasses I have the ability to see that my dad did it out of a genuine concern for my growth and mental health.

Funnily enough, I didn't turn into a murdering, raping bastard. Strange, eh?

If I got at school and my mother thought it wasn't enough, I would get more at home. Thank god by that stage I was immune to her hidings because she hit like a girl. It was more my history teacher I was afraid of haha... :o

imo physical punishment is a good thing for children. Look at the kids 50 years ago how well behaved they were :P

My experiences of punishment at school were limited - but I'd take a few stripes over detention any day, given the choice. You got your hiding, it hurt like a sonofabitch, you know you got punished, and you made sure not to repeat the offence. DT meant wasting your time in a classroom for 2 hours on a Friday, and frankly, when I was in school, local malls, cellphone chats, PSPs weren't around, so you didn't really notice.

I'm glad I got my schooling when I did, beatings and all.

On related note, I'd like to declare this thread officially derailed ... but ...

Depends hey. Some people turn out well others turn out worse.
But one thing I can say don't do everything for your kid. My parents make me to everything myself.

But yeah a good hiding can do the child wonders. :)

But I had to grow up fast in my house. I had to walk and get my own id sorted out, going to have to buy myself a car.

I took it upon myself to study and I am actually getting somewhere in life. One positive thing I can say I don't have a pregnant girlfriend:p

I laughed so hard at that mother and the boy.

My mom used to beat up the bullies..., so a hiding was a hiding.

I had one detention where we couldn't study or do anything except sit at a desk and stare into space for 2hrs... Jeez my mother was pissed when she found that we couldnt do any work and stuff... Not that I bothered to do my homework anyway hahahahahaha...

looooooooooooooooooooool what school were you at??

On Thead topic: I want to get laid. But I don't need it. What I NEED is more games.

On derailed topic: I Always maintain that if my teachers were allowed to hit me at school I'd have gotten a PHD in astrophysics at 17 instead of letting me be lazy and drop out early to to earn 7 digits a year and sitting on my ass for half the year. :p

Precisely the point. Look at how your grandparents were disciplined, how your parents were and how you were. Now look at how children today are 'disciplined'. Personally I blame the psychology employed today, the whole 'pat on the head' approach.

Best memories of my high school years, lining up with my friends in the principles office waiting for 'cuts' :D
