Maybe. But when you have one portal with so great a variety of offerings, it's going to be an uphill struggle for others, like EA, to be as successful. Personally, I do not want to go site hopping to find what I am looking for. I want it all in one place. The only exception to this might be the buyer/player who is looking for a sequel in his preferred game.
 
Another thought on this - and I concede I have only ever bought my games online (to download) from Steam - do other sites like Origin offer promotions and specials like Steam? If not, it's another challenge the other 'stores' are going to have to overcome.

My point exactly. I don't get why people simply don't want to understand this.
 
Well, I think its just business. Not really bothered whether its Origin or Steam, as long as you can still get the games you want to play.

Gamersgate do. Origin did offer a 50% discount a week or so back but it was fail since it was only on old titles and with their selection being so limited their was nothing I didn't have.
