Hope you get sorted, soon.

Can't you play in offline mode?
It's only for people who had not run the game yet. If you had run it at least once, it should not affect you. Also apparently people who changed hardware configurations. They fixed it, though. Pity it took them 8 hours, but oh well.
I've made it to the Hinterlands, but I'm undecided so far. Everything seems to click with me, except the combat. I was really hoping for something more in line with DA:O, but it seems to be even more action-y than DA2.
I'm really enjoying the game. I have a similar criticism about the combat: I really like that they have provided the option for a tactical mode, but it's implemented for a controller, not keyboard and mouse (read: implemented very badly). I use the tactical view extensively for combat, because that's how I enjoy playing this game, but it gets frustrating at times. The 30fps cut-scene thing is also a bit annoying. Other than those issues, I'm loving it.
If you want to get rid on the framerate limit in cutscenes add this "-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+" without quotes to DAI startup parameters in Origin.
I did see that. But I have read that this introduces other issues into the game like trapping your character in the green zone during character creation as well as various multiplayer issues. I think I'll wait for an official fix, but thanks anyway![]()

Yeah, I played a lot more last night (before I knew it it was 1AM) and combat is still my only gripe. I would have much preferred something more like what we got in DA:O, simply because I prefer isometric RPGs. I also think Rogue gameplay was the best out of all three games in DA:O.
I don't like that 2 minutes after starting I made the decision to plug in my 360 controller, but I can live with it. Other than that, I like the game. Exploring Thedas is fun and there's a lot of interesting things to do. I left the Hinterlands very early because that place sucked. The story is a little slow and I don't experience the same sense of urgency that I did in DA:O, but I'm guessing it will pick up a bit once I start getting the Inquisition's dedicated building.
Restarted again with a rogue last night. I just lost interest in playing as a mage for now, I will definitely come back to my mage as I want to try out the Necromancer specialization at some point, but the rogue is definitely the most fun to play as between the 3 classes. Going for a dual dagger build with my rogue as I'm not really a fan of ranged (bow) combat in a game like this. At least I wasn't that far (about 9 hours) before deciding to restart.

I had a similar issue. Started the game as warrior and about 6 hours in I decided melee wasn't doing it for me so I re-rolled a mage and couldn't be happier.
Has the controller improved the experience significantly, specifically in the tactical view? I have been toying with the idea of using my controller, but I just feel so dirty using it on a CRPG-style game.
Yeah I also started with a warrior first, but the combination of the gender bug as well as the fact that melee is kind of sucky with the k/b & mouse controls made me re-roll a mage and I really enjoyed it up untill last night. I will see if I stick with the rogue or switch back to the mage. So far the rogue's melee combat is much better than that of the warrior for me since he has some pretty awesome skills. The melee definitely works better with a controller, but I hate the fact that using a controller completely disables the k/b & mouse; would have liked to be able to play with a controller but still use the mouse for menus and such.
Yeah, the controller feels like the way the game is meant to be played. I prefer playing RPGs with m/kb, but in this case I think they just did a poor job of the PC controls.
I'll give this a go later. There is talk of Bioware issuing a patch for PC controls, but I'll believe it when I see it. For now, I'll see if the XBox controller is better.
