Dragon Age: PC or PS3

Is the character creator in any way an indication of how the game will run? I havent tried it out yet, got it today so I will test it when I get home tonight.

It will tell you if the game will run but it can't measure performance.

Personally the pc version is the one to go for. Mods will add longgevity. Also no BG view is a let down with the console version.

I think you can run it.

I think I'll get the PC CE on Monday and then see how it runs, if I'm satisfied, I'll get AC II at the end of the month. If not, I'll get Dragon Age on PS3.

Well, lets say that if the character creator is a bumpy ride, then you will have problems in the main game.

The creator should run buttery smooth, but seeing as its only 1 character model that gets rendered, its not exactly a good benchmark.

Here's a quote from someone on the DA forums.

You can run this on a p4. Here are my specs.

p4

1GB Ram

WIN XP sp 3

GeForce 6600(not the GT version)

It runs smooth with low settings at 800 X 600. I am getting 30 fps. I am very happy with this. I bought the game for the 360 and am running through two different origins currently on each. I think with even the graphics turned down low they are comparable to the 360. The textures are better on the 360 but if I want to turn the settings up on my PC I do and it looks awesome(blows the 360 away and i have a low end graphics card). I just drop it back down again when I am ready to get into a fight.

So if you believe what he says then you shouldn't have a problem running it.

Cool man, thanks for that. :D I've also been doing some reading tonight and it does seem that I can play the game on my ancient PC. I really couldn't care less if I have to run the game at 800x600 on the lowest graphical settings. As long it runs smooth consistently, I'll be a happy camper :p

Can't wait for Monday to get my CE (Now I need to decide which PS3 games to trade in so I can afford it ...)

I. Want. It.

Any good? Think I'll get it for my 360, mind you.

But reviews people? Happy? I hear its a bit of Baldur's Gate meets Fallout 3... and I love KOTOR. Can this game go wrong?

PS3 launch now has an official date. Should mean 20 November here unless the samething happens as with the pc and xbox 360 release.

There seems to be some confusion on when Dragon Age: Origins will be available for the PlayStation 3 in Europe. I have confirmed when it will be available.

In Germany the PS3 version will be available November 19.
In the rest of Europe the PS3 version will be available November 20.

So I got the PC version on Monday, played till about level 10 and I decided to get the PS3 version as well today. I must say I am truly impressed with both versions, they are both awesome. My PC handles the game fairly well, but it does start to lag a bit during large battles with lots of characters on-screen. The PC version is definitely better than the PS3 one, with the isometric view and the more tactical approach to combat, but the console version isn't half bad either. I'm glad I have both as I can now play the game with both the more tactical combat as well as the more actiony combat on the console. I've been playing on the PS3 the whole night and I definitely enjoy the more action based approach as well as the lowered difficulty. It can get quite difficult on the PC ... :p

Plus you can try out different styles of playing and going to diffrent places. Makes a huge difference in the game.
