Dragon Age *possible spoilers*

@ Stefan9 - that sucks buckets. Well, not for us of course. I'm just happy we get the better end of the stick for once... Still can't help feeling bad for the others though :(

I feel for them as well but they aren't quite in a helpless position. Being part of the EU has its benefits, freedom of movement for goods really does help. With the nordic countries, italy, netherlands, belgium, ect all getting the ce in english it means that if you are in the UK you could and you should order the CE from one of their retailers and not a UK retailer.

What has happened since last night announcement is basicly something like 30 UK forum users on the DAO forums have canceled their uk CE order and are going to import the game now. Basicly this is only going to harm the uninformed buyer, those who do their research will still get their CE with all the contents. This is going to hurt the UK retailers thought.

Anyway Guys got excellent news. Even thought BT has been pretty useless in getting back to me on info concerning the memory band I have confirmation that they will be getting the codes for it. Last night I pm Fernando Melo (Dragon Age Origins Producer) and he confirmed to me that they have been asked to provide BT games with codes for the memory band and guild masters belt. I was really impressed with how fast he responded to my question.

Hi Stefan,

I admit, I don't have a lot of info on RSA, however - we were asked to supply codes to BT Games for Memory Band and Guildmaster's Belt, so I would check with them if that helps.

I'm still putting all the info together for known retailers that are participating in this pre-order program and will put that on the forums as soon as I can wrap that up this week.

Hi Fernando.

I know you are a very busy guy. But while you are checking the info on the different regions and their ce's.ect. Could it be possible for you to try and find out whether we in South Africa get the memory band for preordering as well. I know you guys announced that everyone that preorders get it but when asking at my locally retailers everyone has a different story on whether we are getting it. I tried contacting EA first but the email contact for them at the SA store is the uk support and they told me they have no info on specific regions.

Any info would really be appreciated.

Kind regards
Stefan

Bt Games is as useless as ever
But thanks for the info, even though i'm not getting it through BT Games anymore :)

See, problem is that it's not that easy. A friend of mine in Denmark ordered from Game, but it doesn't seem like even that edition has everything. No cloth map, for example. Amazon.com won't send to Denmark either. GameStop doesn't have the PC CE any more and pretty much running out of ideas...

I don't suppose you have any suggestions? :(

Game is a uk supplier no. Gamestop.de did have it but have apparently sold out of their CE allotment.

Guys on the DAO forums are using this polish shop, using google translator in case they don't understand polish.

Which means you have quite some countries you could pick. I'm pretty sure some urls will come up the coming days (since the CE is rolled out now in the smaller european countries).

Just in case you missed or misunderstood the link to the Polish (Empik) shop I posted on the previous page... their prices converted to GBP (at today's rates):

CE (with metal box and cloth map) - around £43 !
shipping: around £15
Total: £58 (which is about the same price the CE costs in the rest of *without* the shipping charges)

Anyone know a cheaper link (including shipping)?

The Polish shop is selling DA in Polish (translated, I imagine). Even the box cover is in Polish and Google Translate:

Language / Location: Polish: the complete location of playing

So, I imagine even if the game is in English, manual and box wouldn't be, so that's out :p

Thank you though, it's appreciated :3

Since I have already stated my opinion on UK, I won't do that here again.

To quote Mr. Melo

Rest of World (yes, incl rest of Europe, Nordic countries, Oz, etc)
- steel book (aka. metal tin), map, etc as per our page.
- English only box & docs

So.... ugh... confused... I'll let him decide what he wants to do..

Thanks again :3

The Polish CE is in english but the normal edition will be in Polish. The same applies for netherlands, belgium, italy, spain, sweden, ect. Germany is the only country which has the CE manual and docs in german everyone else gets an english CE at least that's the info Fernando Melo gave the forum.

That's the reason they couldn't give France a CE. In France with new touton law all content has to be in french. Which means manuals, docs and documentaries. They couldn't just use subtitles. The same applies in quebec. The german version videos will be in english its just their manual and docs which gets translated to german.

Thanks again, Stefan9 :)

None of this nonsense makes sense to me. Why have multiple collector's editions? Why have some be cheap knock-offs of what the rest of the world get? Ugh... *mumbles* ...

Thanks for the help :)
Ordered from Empik.com and I guess it's all fine, though a bit expensive and there seems to be confusion about whether I have provided a payment method or not, since it says one thing at the top of the page and another at the bottom. But I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks again :)

No problem.:)

No idea why the UK is getting an inferior version. The general opinion seems to be that game didn't want to sell the CE at a higher price so had EA scrap some items in their edition. Apparently it costs more to produce a map and and a tin box in the UK than anywhere else. Hopefully we will get some answers on the exact reasons soon.

The CE except for the exclusive preorder bonus items ( which differs from shop to shop and country) is the same for most countries/regions except for the UK. Those preorder items will also be sold through the DAO market place on launch day so you can still get them they are just going to cost you.

Good news for all who like long rpg's. Dr. Greg reckons minimum time it will take to complete the game is 40 hours. Evil Chris reckons he is right if you ignore most side quests.

DGZ: I would say the minimum you’ll get out of a single-player game is probably about 40 hours.

Which, I believe, is correct. On your first play through, if you choose to ignore most of the side quests and only focus on the critical path, you will take around 40 hours. If you choose to explore and do more, you will easily reach the 80-100 hours we have said previously.
