Dungeon Siege 3

Ok, so I was trolling around the net and I saw that Dungeon Siege has made it's way to a few pirate sites already...and based on those reviews, it's not doing well.

A few quotes:

"Dungeon siege 3 is like a dumbed down version of Dragon Age 2. Bland and boring"

"Obsidian has destroyed everything that made Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 great games"

Considering I didn't really like Dragon Age 2, I think I'm going to haaaate this!

Anyone had a look at it yet or played the demo. What are your thoughts?

Nog net 6 slapies. :P

Also, "???" at the Dragon Age 2 comment. It's a top-down hack 'n slash. I wouldn't expect it to be any more complex than an RPG like DA2. It's not as if DS1 and 2 was games that required an Einstein-like brain to play. You click on creatures to swing a pointy stick to make them die. What's supposed to be so complex about that?

I really don't like it. And to answer Gir's question, yes it would probably feel better on a console.
Big surprise there. x_x

I don't think I could get into it. To me, it's just a failure. (and I have played the previous two. DS2 twice).

Gonna be skipping this one.

Diablo III, where are you. :/

That doesn't sound too encouraging hey?

Heh, my take on it is, it's a Dungeon Siege game. I'm going to love it based solely on that. :P

Frankly, when I read stuff like that I wonder if the people writing it EVER played Dungeon Siege 1 or 2. They were bland, basic, linear games.

Fact: A "dumbed down DA2" is an improvement on that

Also, what made DS1 or 2 "great games?" Big worlds, pretty graphics, a bunch of loot and lots of hacking and slashing. Does DS3 have that? Uhhh... yeah. It also has choice, consequence and interesting characters. Ergo, an improvement on all fronts.

I have real high hopes for this after finishing DS2. Think i'll pass on using a pc. Will be getting the demo for ps3 to decide first.. is it out yet?

LOL, replied to me....in a different thread, thanks anyway. :P

Played a little bit of the demo...It's really not bad at all. I think people's expectations of the game are too high! It's a good hack and slash when you're feeling lazy and just want to blow sh!t up and loot stuff! I mean, it's definitely not worth the price tag of an AAA game...should be more priced at like TOrchlight or indie development level...

Um, I suppose that means I also expected more from it. But it's really not BAD...just underwhelming! :-D

sounds like a classic case once more of gamers being way to jaded these days and not just being able to enjoy something

Anybody have it on PC yet? Mine says I can't install because the game isn't officially released yet. Crappy steam service.

Game should be ready when I get home this afternoon. I got it via steam. They had a special where you buy DS3 you get DS1 and DS2. I have no high expectations for the game. I have played the demo and I think that I am going to enjoy it. I just want to hack and slash...and I know I will be able to di it with DS3... I can see that there is going to be little to no sleep this weekend for me ....Yipppppeeee!!!

It's a bug serverside. According to the news page it's realeased just about everywhere except in Japan, but people around the world are having the problem. Typical valve, we have to wait for them to take their merry fucking time fixing what appears to be a very simple and quick to resolve issue.

Anyways, one of my friends just called me, he got it to install using a VPN to Europe. The VPN kept dropping, but he just finished installing it, then reconnected to VPN and restarted Steam. Game was available for play, so he just put Steam into offline mode and is now playing the game. Lucky bastard. Going to try it myself now.
