3. Consent to Use of Data. When you play this game offline, EA and its
affiliates may collect and store non-personally identifiable data including your
Internet Protocol Address as well as game play and software usage statistics. If
and when you access online features and/or services, this data may be
transmitted to EA. EA may use this information to improve our products and
services and may share anonymous aggregate data with third parties.
Not the only reason why I went ahead and cancelled my Pre order. EA and Dice have gone way to far with the flaming of Activision, then the stupid stunt with the rigs breaking at gamescom, which in my opinion is still just a way to get publicity and I am sorry but when people/companies resort to shit like that it tells me they are scared. So EA and Dice stfu and let the epicness of your game do the talking. This little war with Activision is only harming you're own rep, so much so that people are canceling their Pre orders because of the daftness.
Lol, no dude, it won't. It turns out this is a pretty standard EULA clause.
Show me one other EULA with that "standard EULA clause" in it.This has been EA's EULA for the past 7 years ... Seriously people.

The Origin EULA is geared towards a large scale data mining operation. In order to facilitate this, the word "aggregate" disappeared. So instead of handing over some useless stats to 3rd parties they are handing over massive data sets. Due to the nature of these data mining ops, they don't need to "personally identify you"...they just need some unique marker. That they covered in the first part "information that identifies your computer". Of specific interest here is info that identifies your browser, specifically tracking cookies. That way the advertisers can link an existing tracking profile (internet habits) to a specific computer and by extension you. Then you get this part:Origin said:You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services.
EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you.
So theoretically they can go scan through all your emails and documents looking for mentions of "impotence". This gets linked to tracker IDs [identifying your computer] and is then handed over to a 3rd party. Suddenly you see nothing but Viagra ads on all websites...despite you never having mentioned Viagra *anywhere*.EA may also use this information [the unique marker] combined with personal information for marketing purposes[...] that does not personally identify you.
EA Origin wants to poke around all areas of your PC
Origin EULA clause whips up a stir of privacy concerns
