EA scores a perfect rating for LGBT equality

And accept that but can't you accept I feel differently. The LBGT society is big in asking us to accept your feeling that its by birth not choice but slow to reciprocate.

I doubt I can get you to change your feeling on this debate and I won't try, I don't think I've said here that here that your wrong either, if I have then I phrased it badly. All I'm asking for now is that you leave me to my opinion even if it is wrong, isn't that point of being human, choice.

But why stick to an opinion that is wrong? Isn't the point of being human also to try and better ourselves and constantly improve our knowledge of the world?

You're sticking to an opinion on how homosexuality works, even though you're not homosexual and have never been. What you had was bi-curiosity, something which many, many people go through. Bi-curiosity =! homosexuality.

What you're doing is taking a bi-curious experience and applying the conclusions you drew from it to homosexuality. Even worse, you're doing this when people who are actually homosexual are telling you you've got it wrong. That's like being told the sky is blue, being provided with solid proof that the sky is blue and then still saying 'but in my opinion the sky is brown.'

It defies all logic or reason.

Because it defies the very logic of life itself. If you look at life logically, which you keep bringing up, our sole purpose is to reproduce and continue the species. 2 men can't do that which means you are rejecting your genetic programming. That's why I say it a choice, I've tried to understand but logically the is no reason to this.

Now I'm quite happy to accept its your choice and everything but don't tell me that life would manipulate itself genetically to defy its very sole responsibility to continue the species.

That there is a purely logical assumption, logic which you keep throwing in my face. So logically this is either a choice or genetics has decided that your genes are not worthy of continuing the species (no offence or insult was implied).
I'm sorry if this offends you but you keep telling me I'm wrong so I'm defending my believe.

Watch out now,he might use the ''homosexuality happens naturally in nature'' or the ''you're secretly homosexual'' excuses.

I have nothing against homosexual people btw, just pointing out that those 2 excuses are used the most in a debate against homosexuality.

(When did this thread turn into people's sexual preference?)

So by your reasoning, people who are born sterile don't really have a "logical" purpose on earth. Or Asexuals. That is terribly disappointing for them.

Also, you speak of genetics as if it's some sort of sentient decision-maker. Genetics determine a lot of things - eye colour, skin tone, indeed, probably even sexuality - but "it" is certainly not making any sort of "decision" about who is "worthy" of reproducing.

Also, thanks to science, gay men and women can reproduce - in a genetically viable way - with the greatest of ease. So yeah, there goes that.

If you want to know why you're rubbing people up the wrong way, it's because you're telling gay people that they're "choosing" to be oppressed by idiots, and need to, you know, deal with it because it's your choice.

Have fun telling the numerous lesbians who are being "raped straight" every day, that they chose to be that way and have to deal with the circumstances. Have fun telling all the gay teenagers who are killing themselves by the truckload all over the world because they're being bullied to that point because of their sexuality. It definitely sounds like something people want to choose.

Homosexuality isn't a choice, I'm afraid. Having a misinformed opinion, however, very much is.

Unfortunately you also can't go "I accept that it's your choice, so you have to accept that it's my opinion that it's your choice" - that is the most ridiculous argument.

You have the right to think whatever it is you want to - but you cannot express an opinion as fact, and then go around thinking it's sacrosanct. Especially when it's pretty much completely baseless. By telling gay people - who are stating unreservedly that it was not a choice to be gay - that you believe it's a choice and you don't care what anyone says - you're in effect saying you know gay people better than they know themselves.

That's pretty insulting.

Wow, it's like talking to a brick wall.

If our sole purpose in life was to reproduce, we would still be living in caves. You don't need technology and civilization to reproduce. You know, like animals, even though ironically, homosexuality is rife in nature.

What I take issue with is that despite being told the contrary you insist on subscribing to outdated, and in many cases disproven, beliefs about homosexuality. Homosexuality is not based on a CHOICE. Homosexuality is something that manifests because of a wide range of factors, or it is simply random. It can happen based on early socialization agents in childhood, social and cultural influences in the environment, be something you're born with, because of the people you associate with in early childhood, etc. One thing is certain, it is not a choice that anyone makes, and no amount of saying 'this is what I believe' or 'this is my opinion' is going to make that true.

Please by all means, have an opinion, but please don't try to push your opinion that is based on no facts and no research, to a homosexual person who has been studying homosexuality and following research into homosexuality for years.

Now your just taking half of what I said to make a point.

I never once implied my opinion as fact.

My point has always been that EA is prostituting the LBGT community but instead of talking about that you've chosen me as satan in this discussion despite that fact that I'm attacking this marketing tactic to use the LGBT community.

I'm not the prick your all making me out to be. I'm sorry if you don't like that fact that I believe this is a choice but I'm not the one out there attacking/ raping/ murdering/ exploiting the LGBT community.
I'm also sorry if you don't like my logic behind my decision either but I'm not going to change it because someone says I'm not entitled to it either.
We are each entitled to our own views on how we view life. What's next only one religion is allowed and anyone who has another view is evil. Are we really seriously only allowed one opinion and anyone who doesn't agree should be shunned and insulted.

I've given you your lifestyle and I won't stop/ insult/ question it either. Let me live mine with my views. If you don't like it then all I see is a hypocrite demanding equality and freedom but not allowing it for others.

Watch out now,he might use the ''homosexuality happens naturally in nature''

And what's wrong with that? It's not an excuse, it's fact that homosexuality occurs in nature. If Ike_009 wants to argue that our sole purpose is to reproduce, then in the animal kingdom where this would hold most true, homosexuality shouldn't be happening.

I never once implied my opinion as fact.

Actually, yes you have. You claim to believe homosexuality is a choice. Belief implies that you think something is true, meaning that you think homosexuality being a choice is true. Basically what you're saying is "I respect that you're a homosexual and that you say it's not a choice, but as a non-homosexual I believe you're wrong and that I know better than you about what homosexuality is and how it works."

It's ludicrous at best.

We are each entitled to our own views on how we view life. What's next only one religion is allowed and anyone who has another view is evil. Are we really seriously only allowed one opinion and anyone who doesn't agree should be shunned and insulted.

The problem is the fact that homosexuality isn't really up for speculation. We've got the facts right here, you're just choosing to ignore them.

I'm sorry you feel oppressed. But really, by your own logic, it was your choice to believe the way you do, so you asked to be oppressed in this manner.

I believe that what you believe is seriously flawed and insufficiently reasoned to stand as a justifiable stance, but I accept that you choose to believe that way.

Also, if you disagree with my assessment of your belief structure, please don't argue with me, because it's what I believe, and despite not knowing anything substantial about you, I trust that I sufficiently know you better than you know yourself in this regard.

If you cannot accept that, then you're being a hypocrite, because I have the freedom to have beliefs about your fundamental beliefs - and if you don't allow that, then you're just someone who wants to have the freedoms he doesn't allow others.

@Ike_009, I think the issue being found in your perception of how homosexuality works, is that you believe that it's a choice, and while you may have pointed out that it's just an opinion or belief, you're looking at the workings of homosexuality in a subjective manner (not even considering the different angles) when there are objective facts out that disprove your opinion, which means that what they're telling you isn't their opinion, but facts they've lived through, and even researched.

Opinion vs Opinion where the issue at hand is subjective (like movies, music, even games) = No one can be really be right. But here we're talking Opinion vs Proven Fact which is why there is an issue with your view on the matter.

As a heterosexual, I have a few homosexual friends who've attested to the fact that homosexuality is a result of many factors at work and choice isn't one of them.

There are studies you can find, some of them allude to early social factors, some go into biological factors, some go into environmental stimuli, or even slight differences in the inner workings of the brain, but the core thing that's being proven is that homosexuality has nothing to do with choice, some of the studies even extend that finding to heterosexuality.

So like I said, it's a matter of fact vs opinion rather than opinion vs opinion.

My 2 cents...

@Batachu, I see you're still alive:p

If Graal is a homosexual, and he is telling you that a man does not choose to be gay, then why do you still keep arguing? Don't you think he knows a bit better than you about the subject...?

i have enjoyed reading this.haha.ignorant people live such simple lives thats all im saying.
my viewpoint on the whole EA thing...Great!
only gays i dont like, are those that continue to hit on me, and being really forward about it, after telling them im straight..kinda like pinching a womans butt..not cool(unless shes your girlfriend)

Geez, it takes one idiotic comment to set a whole thread a blaze .

I know it's a bit of a late reply, but I'm really interested in this. Are we talking surrogate mothers here?

Surrogacy is the most viable option (where one of the guys 'donates' his DNA to the cause), but science is making progress to the point where one day both men (or women) will be able to contribute their DNA - http://www.livescience.com/10867-mouse-baby-daddies.html

Still a while off - and sure to be in the cross-hairs of a lot of people - but the point still stands: there's nothing stopping gay couples from having their own biological children. It just takes a lot of money and a complete desire to have them.
