EA Sports Rugby 10

Lol, i am sure if ea had a bigger market one such as tey have for the Fifa games, then they would be working even harder to make the game a bigger success....

A Rugby game will be released fall of 2010. This is because the next Rugby World Cup is in 2011, and therefore, a new Rugby game will be made so they can put this tournament into it. The British and Irish Lions Tour to South Africa may also be included :)

My favorite cricket series ever was International Cricket Captain, which allows you to select your team, batting order, bowling line up, line and length, batting aggression, field placements etc. Also it allows you to skip through the overs fairly quickly. The best aprt is buying players at the end of the season, you can really put awesome county teams together with the likes of Mathew Hayden opeing alongside Jaque Kallis!

It is serious cricket dork territory though.

Totally agree Tinman!!! Best cricket game. Last one i had was the one with Monty Panesar on the cover. Although i prefered the old simply graphics.

No Rugby 2010 = bleak :(

I still don't know why they haven't included multiplayer functionality in rugby games though. Imagine a online rugby tournament where you choose your team and play like a super 14. And then the games will only be played on fridays and saturdays. Would be awesome!!!!! Any good programmers here who would like to join me, then we pick up the license and write a KILLER rugby game. Afterwards, we retire.

i think one of the reasons why cricket games do not work is that you control all the batsmen and all the bowlers. If they made it like the Be a Pro in Fifa, where you only control one player, it would put a lot more pressure on, and performance would mean much more. That this hasn't been done is probably only because cricket is too low priority for experimentation. The market is small as it is, so they play safe.

Brilliant Idea for a cricket game. Reminds me of a game called The Real Mandrid in which you take control of your one player, then playing all aspects of his life e.g. His private life, football matches, training routine, grocery etc.

On a less serious note, a recent Q&A session with the developers can be viewed here (you'll have to register):

Seems like we getting a barebones version of the game - no manager mode, no customisable players etc. I dont mind that, if they say they would rather spend that time working on the core gameplay then so be it.
