Early access games thread

How is H1Z1? I'm eager to get into either Dayz or H1Z1, but from reviews both games (paid version of Dayz) looks a bit buggy? Also, the paid for drop crates from H1Z1 to get supplies, people seem unhappy about that.

It's pretty cool, I bought simply because all my clan mates are playing it and I was the only chump on TS browsing the net. I like to have fun with my mates and this was the next fad.

Point and fact, H1Z1 is better than DayZ, and it's still in early days. DayZ has officially been released to retail iirc and it's still broken as fuck. I really hated DayZ, but back then I had no one to play it with and I think this caused a lot of the dislike and frustration.

All the time I've played on one server I have yet to see a crate drop. Also, it won't let you call a drop unless there is a % of people on the server. I kinda like the crate drop idea in that, even if you've paid for it and dropped it, it's fair game. It's just another way of adding an interest to a game that has no clear cut objectives.

I don't see what the whole debacle is with buying (or wanting to buy) Early Access title is. You know exactly what you're getting into prior purchasing and then people still bitch on how buggy and shit their experience is and how they want a refund.

People are idiots, simple as that. Most people on Steam and even a few here on MyGaming simply don't understand Early Access, so they buy the games and then complain because they're actually early access games and not full games.

I sometimes wish they would hide the early access section behind a questionnaire that quizzes you on the early access model. That way maybe people will learn that if they're looking for games to play, they need to keep out of the early access section.

Picked Besiege yesterday. Great game so far. Just trying to get my flying contraption working without it ripping itself apart. Can't wait to see what the next update adds.

Hey guys. Just bought H1Z1 yesterday and spent about 3 hours on it. I do admit that its a fun game though if you dont have a clan or a buddy to back you up you'll have a hard time since the servers are full of hostiles. I need to join a clan before i go back in there or team up with a few buddies. Anyone up for it?

Like I mentioned. I only play it when my mates are playing.

Also got H1Z1 recently, will be cool to play with a group.

Also, if you guys like Besiege, check this out:

Medieval Engineers

It's made by the same guys who mage Space Engineers, looks really promising.

I've been a sucker for these early access games, and have bought quite a few.

Space Engineers was fun, but the sheer buggyness of the game put me off. I'll try it again after a bit more polish is added to it.

The Long Dark is actually quite beautiful, but a very difficult game to get into. But it's fun for a bit of a distraction, and one of the better survival games out there. Still a long way to go in it's development, but it's quite playable at the moment

And then the creme-de-la-creme of Early access games: Kerbal Space Program. This is just one of those games that did everything right with their EA plan. I love KSP so much, and have put in hundreds of hours in this game, from version 0.16 up to beta, and it's been amazing since day one.

Agreed completely, it is very well done. But for me, my best polished early access title would be Prison Architect. It's amazing how the devs keep you up to date with their releases and their thoughts of upcoming ideas and what what. And the game is super fun!

I've been itching to get this, as it seems right up my alley. I was a bit skeptical of the game when it first appeared on the Steam store, so I waited to see how it matures. But if you recommend it so highly, I might just get it myself as a "from me, to me" birthday gift

Dude, it is well worth it. I've been with it since Alpha6. A lot of management required, but if you like Kerbal you should be familiar with that. But insanely fun and hilarious too!

no, just meant it made of think of that, my mind works like that, misc movie phrases gets stored to permanent memory, taking up valuable space... :P

I'm super keen on Besieged, but must admit the Eden Star is the the first FPS Early Access game in a very long time that has me interested. Thanks Beo.

Besiege looks damn fine and is really solid for such an early build. I just don't see much longevity in it.
I think I'll buy Even Star, but not in it's current v0.01 where there is no save option.
