Final Fantasy 14 Beta Starts 11 March

So far getting to play has been absolutely painful. Upload speed: 55kb/s, download speed: 2.5 kb/s. Time remaining is 2 days.

EDIT:
Scratch that, download speed is 200b/s. This is so fucking annoying.

yes it is a slut, but best you could do is go the torrent route if it keeps on being total kak.

in your documents folder, my games folder, there is final fantasy beta:

...\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version

then you go into downloads > beta

..\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta

look for the current file your are downloading, from the meta folder double click the torrent file

..\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\bca2a8ae\metainfo

this sometimes speeds up the proccess, i used my seedbox to handle the download and get it from there at much better speeds than the horrid downloads.

after you got the file just exit the patcher and copy it to the patch folder and restart the download to get the next and next file in this way, by getting the torrent, downloading and replacing it in it's related patch folder.

...\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\bca2a8ae\patch

note i don't take responsibilities for fuckups :D

After reading and experiencing all the effort one has to often go through for beta testing, I am seriously wondering why anyone would put themselves through the hassle just to test the game for them!?

today is testing :)

Beta testing for FINAL FANTASY XIV will be conducted follows:

Test Schedule

Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 2:00 a.m. to Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 0:00 a.m. (GMT)

* Testers from all regions may log in during the above times.

Subsequent dates and times will be posted at a later date.

Whether you're playing to find potentially game-breaking bugs or just to get a sense of the game before it launches, betas are a magical time for all involved. Specifically, the magic of Final Fantasy XIV's beta has been the sort of magic that ends the world every so often. But luckily for everyone involved in the testing, tonight is the start of phase 2 of the testing, and that marks an important change in the nature of the tests.

Prior to this point, testing was only available when the servers were up, which was not constant. Starting tonight at 7:00 PM PDT (or 10:00 PM EDT), the servers will be up at all times for the second phase of testing. That's according to an official tweet on the game's Twitter feed, which is good news for any and all testers of Final Fantasy XIV. No word yet on whether or not phase 3 involves profit, but the increased availability should be profitable to the players.
