Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Hi all,
Anyone here running a guild/free company or just playing/partying on Phoenix server?
I just got the game up and running last night and would like to know if there's a guild/company that I can join if I decide to stick with the game.
 
I don't know about any SA guilds on Phoenix. Incidently, I did create a character last night on Phoenix just for checking the Gridania intro.

Only SA guild playing FFXIV that I know about is Grim Wolves on Moogle, but I haven't joined them and I don't know how active they are currently, since they seemed to be focused on Wild Star atm.

I tried to get onto Moogle because I know of a few South Africans that play there, but the server isn't accepting any new characters so I had to choose another server.

That restriction only activates when there is a certain number of characters are logged in on the server, not the number created on it.
I created my character early morning and I had no problems creating it on Moogle.
 
Hey Guys. I've recently started playing FFXIV but sometimes struggle to dodge AOE attacks because of lag. I'm currently level 45 WHM playing on Odin. Sometimes it will look like I'm quite far out of the AOE but still take the damage. Anyone else experience the same?

Hi Aluroth, yeah I had the same issue last night with some of the lower level guys on Phoenix server. I basically moved quite far out of AOE range as soon as I saw the indicator, but still took damage no matter what I did. I've resorted to having my Arcanist pet harassing the target and taking aggro then I just stand a distance away and casting spells and healing my pet. Even with casting spells the latency was quite clear as the animation will only start a second or so after the button is pressed.
 
They still haven't completely fixed the synching issues guys. It's one of the reasons we had trouble when we were raiding. Hope they do eventually fix it because I love the game!

Yeah I get the same issue. Especially when playing as a Dragoon, you are so close to the action.
You gotta move as soon as the AOE appears, or else you will always get hit.
 
I don't have issues with AoE's anymore hey. I have issues on my Telkom account but on Afrihost I can dodge everything except for Titan's Weight of the Land attacks, they're pretty much 50/50 - but if I respond fast enough I can dodge them.

The game used to be a fuckton worse back at launch.

I can now tank without giving the healer a headache :p

I main Scholar so I know how you feel. Like I said further up I don't have issues with AoE's anymore but it's harder as a healer.

Who is your ISP?


Anyone gonna create a Rogue/Ninja? Prepare for the Ninja invasion soon, you won't see any other DPS for a while :p

I play mainly on my Axxess account.

I'm level 48 on my WHM and then I have a level 28 Pugulist that I'm also leveling. Hopefully I'm a level 50 Monk before Ninja gets released, else queue times are gonna suck :( But I really enjoy healing. It is quite challenging.

Hmm, I haven't jammed FF14 on Axxess so I dunno... On Afrihost I have around a 300-350ms ping which I can work with beautifully. As a healer I always cast Physick (For WHM Cure I) and then interrupt the cast to see how long it takes to cancel, if it takes more than 300ms then I know I can't run any dungeons.

I wanna level all the healers and tanks with one DPS. I main SCH with a level 38 WHM. I have a maxed on PLD in Myth gear and a level 28-ish Warrior. I use MNK as my main DPS or maybe Ninja... I don't have a DPS for open-world fights and shit which sucks a little.

Queue times as a tank rock :D. I seldom wait for more than a minute for any group activity (Except for Crystal Tower - I'm too scared to run it as a healer or tank for fear of cocking badly :p)

My friend runs as an Paladin. So we get insta-queues which is nice, and seeing that I don't like to tank (not that I tried to tank before). I also like physical DPS. Which server do you play on?

FF14 is my first "real" MMO (I've played others but never long enough to do anything of importance) so I started as an ARC (My fav SP RPG class) but queue times sucked! I had no idea most players played as DPS chars :rolleyes:... So I went healer instead as tanking kinda scared me and I like to think I'm pretty good at healing :o (Most definitely better at healing than DPS) so I just stuck with it. Queues for healers have kinda been on the increase though so I went Tank about a month ago to see if I could and now I'm kinda enjoying tanking more than healing :p so I'm trying to get full Soldiery Gear for my Pal.

I play on Moogle hey, that's where most of Grim and other Saffers played. Been awfully quiet as of late, there's only around three of us now :(
 
Soz, dude. But WildStar is buzzing atm and it seems like that's what most peeps are playing. I still love FFXIV though. Hope they fix the synching as I could definitely see myself returning to that game.

Breaks my heart :(

Naah, no probs :p

I've joined a link shell with some really cool okes in it but it just SUCKS not having a static to run Coil T6-T9 as 90% of Party Finder runs end up failing within the first 10mins :(. So my SCH is now behind on max gear and it irritates me when I see other healers running around with ilvl110 robes!!! They look SOOOO SICK!!
 
What puts FFXIV above other MMORPG's for me is the fact that I can lay in my warm cozy bed and play on my 46" TV with a controller. Makes it a bit harder to rage on my team though xD. Not that I am an rager. Although the community seems quite cool thus far.
