Forza 4

So the obvious question is, who of you have tried the reasonably prices car (Suzuki Liana) around the Top Gear test track? :p

Would be cool to perhaps start a thread here with lap times of doing it in the Suzuki on a dry day in manual gear mode. Maybe submit pics for proof? Or just be honest. I haven't gone to see if they have the C-apostrophe-D car in stock, but the Liana is by far the most memorable one, spanning from season 1 - 7 (2002-2005)

I had 2 go's on the track and my current time is 1:47:28, which places me in 4th place on the wall & 0.18 seconds behind Simon Cowell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gear_test_track) ... My bro bought the game so I can only check it out over weekends when I visit him, but I'm keen on giving it a go if you guys are. :)

It's miiiiles better than the Top Gear teaser track they have in GT5.

Just picked up my copy... will definitely give this a bash.

Can one of you with some HD equipment please take some recordings, I want to hear what the cars sound like.

I hate racing games with proper sound. If I modify a car, specially turbo cars, I want to hear the turbo spoooool as the revs climb, I want to hear the Dump of the Dumpvalve and the compressure surge of the turbo. I want to hear the power of the engine. Yet the only game I have ever played with this, was NFS Prostreet, which to date is the best racing game ever - sound wise!

I know you and cars mappy :D
You'll be impressed by the sound, Its epic mate.
As jy nou nader gebly het kon jy kom saam speel het :D

Ja dude. Ek het al alles gespeel. GT5 (ROFL @ Sound) Shift 2, Shift 1, Rfactor, Live for speed etc etc. NO Game really captures the sound as it should. I'm depressed that specially these Simulator type games have such crappy sound. To the normal* ear the cars might sound fine, but no racing game out there has quite captured what NFS prostreet did back then with the epic sounding cars. You could really HEAR the difference between stages of tune, different dumpvalves, turbo spool, and the cars sounded the part.

*normal meaning ppl who enjoy racing games but don't really delve into cars in real life.

Lemme give you an example.

Gran Turismo 5 - R34 GTR

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlOwe6CuIUQ&feature=related

SOUNDS LIKE A FREAKEN TOY CAR

FORZA 4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQrPZdLlXSE&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL5D0B1DE7EB155C86

Still sound bleh IMHO. There is turbo flutter, but it just sounds so generic. No spool, no engine grind, just sounds flat and boring.

Race Driver Grid R34

Bleh

NFS Pro Street
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZPifTQnW9s

Best example I could find. You can hear the engine growling, you can hear turbo spool, nice big Compressor surge, wastegate and dumpvalve working, wheels spinning hard through gear changes. And this is not even what it sound like when you do the car up nicely in the game.

Check what they went through recording the sound

Now Take Real life R34's.

R34 GTR, MILD TUNE, a mere 600hp, which is NOTHING for a R34

R34 GTR WELL TUNED:

So, you see what I am getting at? They have the latest and greatest tech, graphics, physics the works, but they just can't get the sound right :(

Yeah I get what you mean, The sounds are way better in Forza 4 than in any other game but still not close to realistic.
Still there is a option to "pump" up the car sound, and using that and driving a 690kw Mustang..is quite intoxicating :D
Sounds insane.

probably another month before i can buy my copy

Drools in the meantime

Well now.. my girlfriend bought me Forza 4 for my birthday and sat down next to the TV. Thing is my birthday is only on the 22 Nov, so now every day I walk into the lounge I see Forza 4 staring at me.

The voices are telling me to rip it open and play it! It's still sealed so she will totally know if I open it :/

I've been trying to distract myself from it, but then I saw the November Speed Pack DLC...

halp!
