Four reasons (per device) why motion control is awesome

No, you're creating a very narrow and subjective definition of casual vs hardcore gaming. Mario Galaxy is about as nails-tough as they get, and you'll be pushed to find a more beautifully crafted, multifaceted game anywhere. Hardcore gaming is what appeals to hardcore gamers. Adult themes/graphics have nothing to do with it. Katamari is just as hardcore as Dead Space in its own way. But in any case, I gave the example of S&P2 which is about as hardcore as they get - it's a Treasure shooter for goodness sake.

Still really my point is that motion control is in very early stages. Give it time; wait to see what happens with Kinect. All it'll take is a couple of 'serious' - whatever on earth that means - game developers getting on board and suddenly the potential will become clear.

Hey, something we can agree on. Actually, I think the sooner we rid ourselves of such nebulous, subjective, and frankly stupid concepts as "hardcore" and "casual", the better.

the whole kinect vs. move is just another pointless 360 vs. ps3 in disguise.

circular and useless...

kinect has potential, move has potential/

the fact that move is already going into some of sony's frontline titles makes it a better proposition at this point (if the implementation is spot on) kinect is aiming at the other route...

however time will tell hey

I can conceive in my mind's eye that motion control would do a much better job in FPS games than an xbox controller for example, which is always a bit of a kludge. And even better than mouse/keyboard IF it was done right. It's just that much more realistic.

Worth playing for: The controls are superb, proof that the Wii remote and nunchuk are more than viable for first-person action. Motions that call for Samus to throw a whip or turn an airlock hatch add visceral kick and never seem to get old.

Mmm, I think Move (currently) has more obvious potential in the FPS arena, since it's much more like a Wiimote / arcade pointer. Without additional peripherals, I don't see Kinect lending itself readily to FPSes, or certainly not FPSes as we know them. Remember, Kinect is a camera, not a receiver. I'm somewhat dubious about its accuracy and speed.

Well I just pre-ordered the Kinect through BTGames so....I'm gonna give it a shot. Still waiting for a pre-order on the PS MOVE.
