Thanks for your feedback.

We will start the funding campaign on indiegogo in about a month.
If the campaign is successful we are planning to start the production in Spring of 2014.

For now we have to get our website more active and collect more feedback about our project to have a higher chance of success.

And please tell your friends about the ATOC Gaming Gun. We need your help to make it a reality.

Woah! That looks amazing! I just wanna try it out but that's really kickass. How would you even make that thing?!

It's not that difficult to build one. You just need a body of a toy gun or airsoft gun, a display, parts of a keyboard and a gamepad and a air mouse with a accelerometer and wire it all together. Thats how we made our prototype you see in the youtube videos.

But then you have a real expensive and heavy gun with a lot of weak points. We are optimizing it to the maximum for the best gameplay-experience and easiest handling. And of course if we are successful with our funding campaign we can make it a lot cheaper due to buying the needed parts and materials in large quantities.

There are many problems we have to solve and improvements to make. For example, you get a drift while gaming so that you have to recalibrate way too often. To get rid of this issue we have to program a driver software for it. And the weight of the gun is at this point too heavy for long time gaming.

So it will be a hard way to the final product. But with the financial support we can make a awesome guncontroller with a challenging and realistic gameplay.

@Blind Faith

Ok, where do i start...
Of course i know the Omni and the Oculus Rift. And it is undeniable a awesome combination to play any kind of game.

But there are also aspects that have to be considered.

First is the price.
The projected retail price for the Omni is 499 US-Dollar.
And the price of the Oculus Rift Development Kit is 300 US-Dollar. I don't know how much the consumer version will be but i guess maybe +/- 50 US-Dollar.
So you have around 800 dollar for both.
On top of it, you will also need a guncontroller or another controller of your choice.
The Price of the ATOC Gaming Gun will be between 200 and 250 EUR. That is about 270-340 US-Dollar.
The more funding we get, the cheaper we can make the ATOC, so maybe our price will be going down in the future.

Second is the compatibility.
Most games are not VR-Ready. That means you have to adapt the games that you can play them with the Rift.
With the ATOC you can play every First Person Shooter Game, infact you can play every game with a mouse input like MMORPG's or Racing but it's not really meant for that. You just plug it in, install the driver and play.

Third and most important is the gameplay itself.
Theres a big difference between Omni-Rift combo and the ATOC.
With the Rift you don't aim with the gun. You aim with your head. The motion sensors in the headset are computing the mouse position.
So even if you want to play realistic and try to have the weapon at the ready all the time and in all positions you look, you will find yourself turning your head in one position and holding the gun at a different one. (I hope you know what i mean)

With the ATOC you have to ready the gun all the time because the sensors in the gun compute the mouse postion.
You aim with the gun in the direction where you want to go or shoot at your targets. If the target is behind you, turn around. You want to climb the ladder up? Look up and move.

It is unquestionable that the Omni-Rift combo is far more advanced then the ATOC and is also the most immersive setup for any kind of games. And the rift will be of course the most realistic setup for Plane, Heli or Racing simulation games.
But it is not the most realistic setup for First Person Shooter Games. In real life you dont aim with your head... You have to aim your gun on the target and shoot. Thats the reason why i made that statement with the most realistic gameplay experience for First Person Shooters.

And btw, the ATOC Gaming Gun can also be used with the Omni.

Sorry for my bad english, it is very late in germany... but i just had to reply before i go sleep. :)

Hey guys,

the indiegogo funding campaign will be delayed till next year. We want to make the ATOC more public first, and we will at least in Germany make some presentations in some big citys. And for that we are currently building a better version of the ATOC.

Awesome. Any ideas on how you are going to make it better?

Yes, there will be some changes in the button layout. Also we are adding a front grip with an additional movement controlstick and some buttons.
