Free ADSL speed upgrades from Telkom

This is unexpected good news on a Friday morning.
Unfortunately, the exchange I'm on only allows up to 4mbit. So if they don't upgrade it, I'll have to migrate my Afrihost capped bundle down one tier. This is a saving of R75, but I'd rather pay that money and have a 10mbit line.

So, no difference there then. Think I might "downgrade" to the new 'Up to 4 096 kbps'

Ja, I'm gonna stay on a 4mb line, take the price drop. Then change to Afrihost 100gig capped account and save R300/month. Just like that. I'm in two minds about this though, coz my exchange has been dodgy at best since the last upgrades with congestion, so this wont help with that. Although, I'm pretty stoked with a R300 saving for pretty much the same thing.

I went from Mweb 4meg uncapped to the Afrihost Capped bundle. Am still trying to find that sweet spot of how much cap I use during a month but has definitely been better in terms of general responsiveness and no shaping etc :) I think it also worked out cheaper for like a 100gig+10meg line vs 4meg uncapped which was a win in my books.
 
This is great. I wonder though (complete ADSL noob :o), if one were to get an upgrade (a paid one) prior to the free upgrade, would you still be eligible for an upgrade to a higher tier? For example, I upgrade from 1 to 2Mbps, would I be eligible for an upgrade to a 4Mbps line?

What are the specifics?

Its all good and well they upgrade the line speeds the problem is are you going to pay almost double the price between uncapped products.

Wonder how the isp's are going to change their pricing again.
