Gaming chair

mottamort

Bargain Hunter
(technically this is gaming hardware heheheh)

Hi there. I need to replace the broken office chair I'm currently sitting in when gaming. Have been looking around and all I can find on the online stores is the Thermaltake comfort for a pretty penny. Anyone have any advice on the matter? To me lower back support and comfort during extended sessions are top priority. I don't care for looks (whether it looks like a piece of scrap metal or a Impreza racing seat doesn't bother me). I see it as an investment, and my boss might even subsidize some of the costs due to me using it for work purposes during the day.

But yea, seems options are fairly limited to that Thermaltake, and I cant find any reviews for it.

Takealot has an XRocker...but that looks like a couch replacement type seat...

Xrocker are for consoles yeah. Rebeltech are bringing in the ThermalTake Chairs and Evetech are bringing in Raidmax Chairs. Both will most likely only have stock next year it seems

I'm in the same boat mottamort. Also have an old office chair that is on its last legs, but I just can't find anything decent to replace it with. I only look at fabric (high-back swivel and tilt) and most chairs are leather. When are they going to learn that fabric is just so much more comfortable (non-sweaty/sticky in summer and warm & cosy in winter)?

Agreed. While leather retains heat during winter rather nicely, its not like our climate is snowy etc, we have long warm summers which makes leather sticky and lame. So yea, definitely looking for one that breathes

They've got some nice chairs at Waltons (taken over by Bidvest, and now called Bidvest Waltons). I went to the one in Woodmead Jhb and they have a nice selection at good prices (fabric and leather). I saw a fabric chair that was about 80% what i was looking for, but decided to look around a bit more. No luck so far.

Do your self a favour and go try the chairs at Macro

https://www.makro.co.za/office-and-...e&Category4=Office Furniture&Category3=Chairs

They dropped the price on the ergo flex - I wanted that one badly but it was just to expensive last year when I was chair shopping, but its worth while to go and test the chairs out.

While I appreciate the help, sadly Makro is 300km away from me and not a real option...and Game doesn't come close :(

Just doesn't look like it might last very long though

The cheapy i got from them last year is now a year old, still looks 90% new, nothing broken yet. Plus they do come with a year warranty. I had to return one once. The previous chair I got from them also R1500 price range, lasted me 4 years and I am overweight. So on a skiny person it will last longer.

Makro tends to be very good with their warranties. Almost everything has a 1 year warranty by default unless otherwise stated and certain items (like TVs) you can get an extended 5 year warranty. My trimmer died 11 months after I bought it and when I took it it they sent it back to the manufacturer and I got a new one back 2 weeks later. With another 1 year warranty on it :-)

10% degradation pet year is not too bad =D
Where exactly has the other 10% gone in a year?

And I don't appreciate you implying that the chair will only last a year because of my weight! :(

hehe its lasting inspite of mine

that is what I was implying.

my chair/desk is next to a wall, I tend to not pay attention and scratch the back or arm rest on the wall - that has damaged the fake leather a little. Otherwise its doing good the gas in it also is still good, aka i can easily adjust my chair. Its bloody comfy and I play 4 hours straight on it without being sore or stiff.

Is that the ergo flex that you're currently on?
