You see, there's the root of the problem, even if you didn't mean it offensively. It's been ingrained into society so much that we barely notice it in our everyday speech. People think of gay sex as 'not normal'. Sexuality is about as normal as it gets, its just years of intolerance spawned by religion that has created this entire image of homosexuality being abnormal. It really doesn't affect any individual if another one has a different sexual preference, so I honestly don't know why anybody would consider it a threat or abnormal.
Enough with the flames, please.
Racist and homophobic comments will be met with the Banstick.

But what I am seeing, and what bothers me the most about this thread to date, is the fact that we have numerous people trying to force their views on others - whether those views are right or wrong is immaterial.
Incorrect. In this case "wrong views" are harmful, offensive and inflammatory. ZA has a bit of a problem with corrective rape, violence against gays and all of it stems from a "wrong view" based entirely in ignorance, intolerance and a lack of compassion or even a desire to understand what other individuals go through.
I simply wouldn't be a fan if it was forced my way. i.e part members started having homosexual behavior. If its something they want to include for your character as a choice.. go for it.. just don't force it.
Yeah I don't see what the problem is, when so its always been your own choice. If you don't want to have a gay relationship, you don't have to. Aren't Homosexual entitle to have a same sex relationship in a game and not be forced to have a straight one? Its a Role Playing Game. They have the same rights as a straight person you know? And thus should be entitled to play what ever role they want in the story. Hate to burst your bubble, but by saying they aren't allowed to do things the way they want to and only your way does make you a bigot, no matter how many times you say you have gay friends.
But - right and wrong are subjective. This is the context in which I made that statement. If, for instance, my religion (I'm atheist, so it's not an issue - I'm using this as an example) says that being gay is wrong - then you would be forcing your views on me, because from your point of view it's not wrong. Yes, maybe that religion is obtuse, wrong, silly, irrelevant in this day and age, but I would still have my right to it.
Thanks, although I'm quite renowned for being an opinionated and stubborn asshat at timesAnd I wasn't accusing you, necessarily, of forcing your view on anyone - I was commenting on the tone of this thread.
That's all I have to say on the matter, really - like I said, I don't want to get involved in this debate (except I somehow managed it already) - like religious discussions it's likely to turn into a damn quagmire - this thread being a case in point.
Anyway, I'm not going to stand around here saying that it's great and that all games need to have such things because at the end of the day I believe that if queer people, such as myself, run around proudly proclaiming their queerness then straight people can do it too. What I'm trying to say is that it really isn't a big deal and people should try to get over it.
The way I see it, I'm not attracted to gender, I'm attracted to people.
BioWare should really mess with gamer's heads on this one. Gamer's are sluts for big in-game item rewards - we'll go out of our way to grind for hours if it will give us an advantage in the next segment of the game. How about rewarding those who engage in a homosexual relationship with a really powerful gun? Something that the 'straight' players cannot get their hands on.
I await the shitstorm of a response![]()
