GeForce GTX 970 Design Flaw Caps Video Memory Usage to 3.3 GB: Report

That vid was funny as hell now i'm glad i never decided to go for that 970 galax. Joker if your reading any of this does the Galax 970 have coil whine and does it also have this problem?

Pretty much no coil whine, my CPU fan makes more noise than the GPU. Also, 4GB or 3.5GB the 970 is still going to best most of the competition and I don't see the value proposition having changed at all. It's disappointing to hear that the card may lose performance when using more that 3.5GB of memory but it doesn't change the benchmark results that everyone has been getting, it's still a beast.

Yep, I'm also not phased about the 3.5GB vs 4GB issue. I was never planning on gaming at UHD on the 970 with 30-40 FPS. I'll rather play at a lower resolution where I can get 60+.

There are many tests now on reputable websites that show that once you reach the 3.5GB upper limit your fps is already so low as to not matter anyway. It's really pointless.

yep, as expected mountain being made out of a molehill.

Playing Dying Light at the moment. When I max the game settings out at 1080p, my Galax 970 goes up to 3660MB VRAM, and nothing higher. Even though it does this though, I still get great performance. I'll check what kind of framerate I get with FRAPS.

The 970 would be faster and you wouldn't have to worry about crossfire compatibility.

Thing is i have 2 and running xfire already by i'm building a new pc sometime in the next month and i'm wondering if i should drop xfire and go the 970 route or jsut stay with what i have

Actually looking at performance numbers on the 270x crossfire is really good, it probably wouldn't be worth getting a 970 if you already have the two cards.

Thanx for that info because i was in 2 minds foinf with the FX8350 and 8 gig's of gskill 1866
Cos i noticed a weird thing this morning with BF4 it also has a mem leak issue as soon as you go above 6gigs of ram it actually pulled all 8 gig's of my ram this morning so much so that my pc came to a halt

Restarted and it was fine running at 4-5gb usage

I know the thread kinda ended, but I didn't know where else to post it so the interested people would see it. Meh
