Grand Theft Auto V released date appears

I expected a date like that. With something looking as good as the trailer did, I reckon that there will be a lot of little finishing touches to be added to the game. Also, gives me some time to recover from the wave upon wave of awesome games hitting our shelves in the next couple of months.

Nice. I was a pretty big GTA fan at one stage so I have high hopes for this one, looking really good so far. Hoping for an awesome Collector's Edition.

There is a nice piece on IGN about hopes/fears for GTA V, I for one hope it retains the serious nature of IV and not regress to the sillyness of San Andreas

I actually liked the sillyness of SA (my favorite GTA of the lot) and missed it in GTA IV, I found that I enjoyed Ballard of Gay Tony's campaign a lot more because they instilled the fun back into the plot and missions.

The game doesn't need to be off the hook bonkers like Saints Row, but a plot like Red Dead (serious, but fun) is what I'm looking for.

I agree. GTA IV had a nice feel to it.

Then again, there are a lot of people who like the silly stuff. Perhaps there will be some middle ground between the two concepts that keeps both parties happy.

If you want sillyness Saints Row the Third is out. While I found RDR's boring the plot was decent, especially the ending.

I loved the ending, I was expecting something else which really increased it's emotional impact. :D

Have you played TBoGT? That was the middle ground. :)

sillyness of San Andreas
I kinda liked SA. Nothing like trying to park a corporate jet on the top of a skyscraper. Bonus points if drunk.

All I remember about GTA IV is that the cars had the handling characteristics of a couch with wheels.

Nonetheless I can totally see how people can prefer IV over SA.

I liked the handling of the cars in GTA IV, it was mildly realistic. After some practice I was drifting around corners like a pro. :D

Agreed it took some more skill that former GTA games but was fun when I got the hang of it.
I won't be hoping for a release date for a game anymore, instead I will be hoping for games that release fully finished and tested for the best gaming experience and what you pay for.

+1......and then we get DLC that enhances the game, not just patches to fix all the broken stuff
