Grim Dawn

Some occultists having fun:

I just wonder if this will see a 2012 release or if it will come mid 2013. Can't stand good games taking so long. I get kinda impatient.
Oh well.

Looking great! Big Fan of the Titans quest series , finished it many, many times lol .Cant wait for this to be released...Il play HoMMVI and fifa12 till then :)

hmmmm...looking Grim and Sexy. Can't wait. They definitely will not release in the next 6months to a year imo. Plus the competition with Diablo 3 and then Torchlight 2 would be quite intense.

MY biggest concern with the visuals of the game is that I find it just too 'gritty', enemies lack strong outlines which make them hard to separate from the background. The UI could also use some cleaning up.

Funny that you bring this up. I'd thought to myself what is this (after d3) new method of highlighting or outlining the enemies, doesn't it break the game ?

If I found myself in a shop confronted with boxed copies of Diablo III and Grim Dawn side by side, and a 1964 colonel-general from the North Vietnamese Army demanded I choose only one, I'd choose the latter.

Remember that this is pre-alpha footage. You should voice your concerns on the Grim Dawn forums (http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3171), as the developers are actively engaging in discussions with the community, listening to suggestions and often implementing them in the game. It's a wonderful process and should serve as an example to all game developers.

Personally I think the game is supposed to look gritty and I hope they don't change that. There has been an ongoing discussion regarding the UI (http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3100) and I'm sure it will be changed slightly before the game is released. As for outlines, the enemy you're aiming at does have a glowing outline. Perpetual outlines belong in comic books and Borderlands.

I didn't mean outlines I meant silhouettes. Quite often I couldn't fully distinguish the brown zombies from the brown dirt or the brown walls. It suffers the same problem HoN does (please no moba war) in that models just get lost and when any kind of action happens all you see is a lights show. Maybe it's just personal preference but for this type of game I feels it's better game design to have actions and enemies be very distinctive, for me Torchlight did this very nicely.

I would genuinely be interested to know what exactly you think Grim Dawn has over D3.

Please note I'm not calling this game bad, not at all, I just don't see how you can say you prefer one game over the other without playing either.

Shorter development cycle and the ability of enabling its followers to detect even the slightest hints of Diablo III fanboyism.

Here's a scenario for you; when faced with the decision to buy either Diablo III or Barbie Horse Adventure, you would surely have a preference for one or the other without having to play either, no? Likewise, I would prefer to play Grim Dawn first and still look forward to experiencing Diablo III later. Hopefully you'd prefer to play Diablo III first and not look forward to playing Barbie.

That being said, I believe Grim Dawn and Diablo III are going to be awesome games and in a perfect world, everyone would have the opportunity to play both.

PS. Did I just equate Diablo with Barbie? Investigating...

So basically your only reason for preferring Grim Dawn is that it isn't D3, interesting.

Shorter development cycle and the ability of enabling its followers to detect even the slightest hints of Diablo III fanboyism.
You understand that fanboyism means supporting one thing over another without reason? I'm not really sure a game taking less time to be made can count as a plausible reason.

OK come now let's try a little harder. :) Seriously I want to know why people are so excited for this game.
