Growing out of Games

I'm often asked by family and some friends - when will I grow out of games? This is a question I've wondered about since I started playing games way back on the sega megadrive. I'm wondering If ill ever grow out of games, its such a big part of my life and I cannot see myself just giving it up completely.

I don't think I'll ever grow out of them, but I'll grow tired of them. That is, of course, only for a few months at most. It's happened in the past before. I go through stages where I play on a very hardcore basis, and then other stages where I don't play at all.

It'll always be an interest, but not necessarily a priority.

I think it does happen in phases for me too, I've had it where I play every night till 4 am and struggle to work. Then there are times when none of my machines get turned on for daaaays at a time.

It's such a stupid question, really. Might as well ask when you're going to grow out of books or movies. Games are every bit as legitimate entertainment as those others.

That is like asking someone, when will you grow out of TV.

I consider games much like a interactive movie.

Luckily for me, my wife feels the same way :)

questions like these come from people who don't understand the medium. like my parents. they just don't get the fact

Nah wont happen. I grow out of certain genre's. Like Rachet and Clank screams kids game where as Heavy Rain is my kinda mature game. I think for those of us who live, eat, breath and sleep gaming. Its just something we will keep doing until the day we die.

Mappy ill arrange Retirement village COD match. :p

Think about the gaming generation as geriatrics (spelling)

I will never ever ever grow out of playing games I love my games way too much to give up playing :p

Yeah but you have to remember when our parents where kids they where still inventing Color TV. So for them to "get" a medium which is as old as some of their children is nigh impossible.

The truly intresting thing will be seeing when we have kids...

How do you do it? I mean sheesh two nights of that, the next week I am in bed at 8pm and out like a light... Age is catching up with me.

My cutoff lately has been 2:30, that gives me a couple of hours sleep. When I get home I take a nap before dinner, usually about 2 hours, then go play again.

The assumption that people who play games are immature is totally f* stupid. I've also been asked by friends when I'm going to grow out of it...so when they fiddle on their cellphones/gps/iPods all night I ask them the same thing
These are the same people who sit gaping at the TV - at least games get your mind working (to a degree at least)

Agreed, I just think the games change. I used to be into almost every FPS out there, now I much prefer RTS. Age I guess.

i have been gaming since i was about 4 years old, so gaming has always been a big part of my life. 20 years later and i still paly every day, and i will never, ever, ever stop
