Guild Wars 2

must.. stay away.. from beta. For this one, I want the excitement of opening up the CE and playing it fresh. Kinda like that feeling when played Guildwars for very first time. Hope can resist when the open beta comes up.

Nah ... I want beta for one simple reason - so I can play around and then when GW2 arrives on my doorstep I know exactly what I want to do to make my first character perfect.

GW1 I deleted my main any number of times because I was unhappy with how she turned out :)

ergh, your logic is flawless. Maybe I'll just give character creation a really good thorough test.

I'm basically assuming that beta with GW will be similar to what they did in Aion - whatever characters were created during the beta will most likely be wiped before launch. So I'll probably create 4 or 5 chars right off the bat, and play around with character customisation, and creation options and so on.

I can't say I was entirely blown away by the customisation options they presented at Gamescom - I'm hoping there's a little more to it than they showed us in the final product.

There were 2 options that weren't available:

Facial Features & Physique (Body Options)

These will add some additional levels of change to the faces of our chareacters as well as do you want to be a 17 foot tall Norn that is 17 foot wide.

Stuff like that, but just not as exaggerated. I also think there will be more faces and options for customization. But beta will give us the opportunity to tell them, GIVE US MOAR FACES AND HAIRZ!

Yeah ... that's pretty much what I'm shooting at :)

I'm hoping to see more or less the same level of customization as was apparent in an MMO like Aion - within limits obviously - a 6ft Asura or a whip-slender Charr doesn't fit. So there will be restrictions, but I just don't want preset faces and hair, since given that millions of people will be playing, eventually there's going to be twin running around.

I know it's a bit irritating that Anet is just releasing tid bits of info at a time, but the game just keeps looking better and better and keeps me so excited, i get more excited every time i see a new vid. I just have a good feeling about this game, I don't know why but i think it's gonna be the closest thing ever to being a wow-killer, not that i have any problems with wow, i play it currently :D

Lulz WoW doesn't really need killing since WoW players are slowly falling off the Official servers. But Guild Wars 2 is a DEFINITE WoW killer :-P. I mean the whole game is set to revolutionise the way we play MMORPG's since it's going to be quite dynamic. Hopefully we will soon hear of a release date even if it is for June next year :-P

I really hope they release towards the end of this year. I have saved up all my leave and intend to use it playing GW2. :P

End of the year release would be AWESOME since I will have leave then as well.

I wonder how many people will die playing Guild Wars 2...

EoY would be awesome indeed! I still maintain that for a game of this calibre they could easily have asked for subs, but it's even more awesome that they aren't ... and I think this is going to cause a MASSIVE inrush of MMO players.

I think we're looking at a Q1 2012 release probably - the way I see it there's just too much on the game that's unfinished. We're still waiting on the Asura reveal, as well as our mystery 8th profession.

Foxie, I must say this despite the fact that I'll prolly get lynch mobbed for it ... as much as it pains me to wait even longer ... I'd rather wait until the end of 2012 for a polished product than sit with issues that plague SP games. My two favourite games, the witcher & KOTOR II, were both riddled with bugs on release.

/attempts to lynch Voicy but fails because of being alone :p

I do agree with you on that point, but if I have to wait until the end of 2012 I'll will go certifiably insane. I think the end of 2011 is unlikely to happen, and I doubt ANet wants to clash with other big titles at the end of the year (MW3, BF3, D3 - too many threes) - so probably best to let the folks work it out of their system over December and start looking for something new.

In all honesty, I believe the final profession is probably ready - but they're holding off on purpose.

Well ... based on all the released info, it might be a good idea to start working on the "Epic GW2 starter guide." :D

Heh ... I think the GW2 system is going to make that very much more complicated than was the case with Aion and WoW. However, a mate and myself are busy working on a fansite/community portal - and guides are very much going to be a part of the setup :)

This game looks like it is going to be awesome!
I tried rift, but lost interest after about 3 months...
Hope GW2 does the dynamic events better than rift did.
