Guild Wars 2

Eish, Patience is on leave at the moment. She wanted a raise but in the current economic climate I can only afford her ever so often.

But on a more serious side note, this is going to end up being a christmas release or we're only going to see it early to mid next year. I doubt they would give less than a months notice, but hopefully they'll reveal their sinister plans by October the latest if they are planning a December release. Otherwise we just have to wait till they decide to give us another bone.

Bone's been tossed already - Eric Flannum already stated that they are currently in Alpha testing, and they will be doing closed Beta towards the end of this year. Closed Beta will determine when the Open Beta takes place.

I'm banking on a release somewhere in the first third of 2012 - possibly April - that being Guild Wars's anniversary month.

Hmmm would make sense for them to release it then. Would still be nice to have a solid date so I can set a few days on my calender to stagnate and play GW 2 to my hearts contempt

Oh and on a side note, i installed the penny arcade decide-o-tron on my iphone to check it out.
And it has the release date for Guild Wars 2 12/31/2011!

I find that someone unlikely though - especially if you consider that they haven't even decided on an open beta date yet.

And the 31st of December would be the worst date ever to release a game.

This is taken from the Amazon policy of placing the release date for any game that does not have one at that day. Shadow is correct, no sane publishing company will ever release a game on the last day of the year.

So... are the die hard GW fans still playing GW1? Do GW1 servers still exist? What's the expiry policy on them? I spent more money on GW1 than i care to remember :( Will have to finish those expansions before i tackle GW2 :p

GW1 still going strong, they will still be running even after GW2 has been released.

You can log in at any time and there will be activity - I've seen players even on some of the more remote outposts. And if you hop over to the American servers, you'll be seeing lots of activity.

[Inserting msg too few characters here, inserted now.......]

In the beginning, there was Ultima Online. House theft was rampant and griefing was law. The internet saw that it was good.

Then came Everquest, which brought 3D models made from 12 polygons and box art featuring some elf chick wearing half a shirt. Much of the internet would not sleep for three days and three nights playing this crap. They saw that it was good.

And Everquest begat World of Warcraft, who begat more Chinese slave labor gold farming operations than the world had ever seen. And WoW also begat a porn parody and The Guild, which despite being on the internet, is not porn. But the internet saw that it was good anyway.
