Guild Wars 2

Also very excited, just wondering if there will be a massive patch before release or if there has been pre-downloads. If there is a massive patch to come then I will be playing a week after release, once it has downloaded on my slow internet.

I suppose that is a good thing, will give Anet time to sort the usual expansion patch release crap, which will be inevitable.

I feel sorry for people who took off work or whatever for release day. That is never a good idea.

Yeah I think most of the content is already in but still expect a semi-large patch on release day. I'm hoping the bigger issues are sorted out during the day so when I get home from work I can just get started.

Dammit, I am suffering from severe shiny fever. Had a great day to play and because I am so looking forward to the new shiny things to do in HOT, I could not do anything in GW2. Everything just felt so .... meh and the same as it has for so long. Just could not bring myself to play it, or any other MMO I am currently playing.

I hate shiny fever, but I know I always get it just before the release of something new MMO wise that I will get into.

Me too, and since I never played in the betas I'm really excited to start exploring the new zones. :D

I've stayed away from betas, and I don't think I've seen much video of people who have played the beta either - so I'm going into this mostly blind. I'm mostly looking forward to figuring out things by playing the game properly. Of course, the Halloween event starts on Friday too, so I'm sure that I'm going to be spending the first couple of days chasing shinies in the Mad King's Labyrinth first.

With regards to the patch-size - I'm sure it's going to be fairly substantial, but I have a feeling that some of the content has already been added to the client, so we won't have to download everything.

Since the launch is happening about - I think - 9am our time, I'm thinking of leaving my machine at home on and just TeamViewing in to start the patch download while I'm at work - hopefully it will be done by the time I get home.

Had some good fun with friends today and then we ran into the content gating.....
In short, to play your new specialisation to the fullest you need to find hero points, lots of them. The problem is the hero points are gated behind obstacles that can only be overcome if you have the right masteries (behind poison fields, jumping mushrooms, gliding), which you have to grind events for to get mastery xp, over and over again.
Its a bit tedious and will take you a LONG time to do.

Hey Shrike. Have a look at this guide. May help with the hero points

Had quite a bit of fun last night. PVE went out and claimed their guild hall. Pretty fun running around clearing out the enemies.
