Guild Wars 2

Yep, the book for your storyline is also awesome, I forgot they mentioned that.

Imagine having both a movie and book based on your characters.... ;)

Wonder what the other Professions, are going to be? They got the core ones at the moment. So Hoping for a Mesmer, I used to love Degenerating/Interrupting spell casters During a AB match... ahhh... good times.... can just see the words of hate now :D

Anerfnet Q&A Blog about items and loot questions

Concerning what I also have a problem with :

Q: Will all of the most desirable armors in the game have crappy stats, thus “requiring” the expenditure of real money to acquire transmutation stones in order for our characters to wear the armors we want?

Eric: Absolutely not. We’re not changing the way we make armor at all because of this system. Guild Wars 2 starts players off with basic but very attractive armor (as seen in our demo) and from there the armor only gets cooler. In fact, we have a ton of very cool armor at the high end of the game, which means that many players will never use a transmutation stone since they’ll want to keep the appearance of the new gear that they find.

Mesmer should be there for sure, its a Guild Wars unique type profession. As far as I know Interrupting is not implemented...

See? There we go. People were going off on a limb for no reason whatsoever.

And then there's this bit as well:

Q: How much will transmutation stones cost? Will they be available outside of the in-game store?

Eric: We haven’t finalized the pricing structure on transmutation stones. We’re not certain at this time whether or not transmutation stones will be available outside of the in-game store. Philosophically we believe that players should have a way to acquire items like transmutation stones through the course of playing the game and not just through purchase in the in-game store. We’ll talk in greater detail about how we plan to accomplish this when we arrive at a final paradigm.

I agree on Mesmer - I don't think the Guildwars universe would be complete without them. I still think the Assassin is a good bet as well.

Mesmer will be in the game and I also agree on the Assassin.

As for the rest, well I know one will be a gunner profession. The other one I was hoping for a pirate / mariner / swashbuckler, but that'll never happen. Other people have speculated on Blue Mace Lady being a Paladin type profession. I seriously doubt a Paladin type profession for Guild Wars 2. Other suggestions have been Alchemists...

We'll just have to wait and see...

I don't want to wait anymore!

Well, since Warriors can now use a bow with their own unique skill set, why cant they also use a rifle?

I still think we will see upping the ante of in-store items with greater effect on gameplay than GW1. If not I will hail ArenaNet as gods of MMO's because then they will be showing other companies how greedy they are, and debunking a lot of conceptions about the costs of running servers. GW1 is not as intensive on their infrastructure as GW2 and its open world ethos will be. But only time will tell how bought items will affect gameplay.

For some reason I want to hate this game because I never got GW1 (and I get most MMORPG's / RPG's). But hell, after reading much info even I have to admit - HOLY POOPSTICKS THIS IS SOUNDING AMAZING!

Not too late, can pickup the complete edition sometimes for R300 it's got all 3 campaigns, might even come with EoTN!

I'm sure they'll make items from the store more appealing or more useful - but they'll make enemies of their fans if they sell anything that affects the gameplay itself.

So, clothing, outfits, pets maybe - extra inventory space as I've mentioned before ...

I reckon they'll stick to their normal formula.

I hope they release this game early in 2011 but they must not rush things which I doubt Arena net will :) I seriously doubt Arenanet will create an overkilling "In Game Store" or give hectic ingame advantages to player who use the "In Game Store". Its not Anet's style and it would hurt their reputation with us teh long standing fans and players of their game :)

Arenanet has already proven that bloated monthly subs are indeed just that "Bloated" :)

Edit: What shadow basically said :P

Cool, I am glad that you took the time to check out GW2 stuff, if you havent checked the Gamescom or PAX demo movies, you should really check it out. Glad to see that you finally see some light (as I can remember in other threads you had some hate for GW2), and see where I come from with the hate of Pay-to-play MMO models.....

Blizzard with the WOW machine (yeah lets talk about them) makes ALOT of money...
How many users is in WOW? Well, this is actually perfect, I dont even have to lie -> wondered how many ACTIVE subscribers does it have? Check the first post!! 12 million active subscribers So, I see $30 for a 60 days pre paid card.

$ 12,000,000 * $ 15 = $ 180,000,000 per month == $ 2,160,000,000 a year.
So, would the costs of maintenance, salaries, etc be that much?? Some places I read it costs them $150,000,000 a year on server maintenance....

Sorry for the rant, but Arenanet with GW2 clearly shows that there is something wrong with that model, and sadly alot of people see GW2 as a fail game BECAUSE its not having a P2P subs model (brainwashed or something). Keeping in mind Arenanet are spending ALOT of money in the development alone (a quality game for sure), they still keep the persistent world F2P! They have my respect, forever and ever!!!

As for the Gamescom and PAX demo movies, Ill get some of the links again, and add it again.

First off I disagree that store items will affect gameplay. Why? Well because ArenaNet have always only added items that don't affect gameplay.

Examples are pet unlock pack, skill unlock packs, xunlai storage slots, etc. These things don't impact gameplay or give you an advantage over someone else. Xunlai storage slots are there for those people who wish to have extra storage slots in their chests but you don't really need it.

Then there are the character modifications. Sex change, visuals of your character etc. These only offered you the option of changing your character if you have become bored of the way it looks.

Now on to Guild Wars 2. They have transmutation stones that are a in-game store item, BUT the in-game store might not be the only way for you to acquire the transmutation stones and probably other store items.

Q: How much will transmutation stones cost? Will they be available outside of the in-game store?

A: Eric: We haven’t finalized the pricing structure on transmutation stones. We’re not certain at this time whether or not transmutation stones will be available outside of the in-game store. I believe the in-game store items will be similar to Guild Wars, but with more options as well as probably in-game events etc that might reward certain in-game store items as prizes, like a huge scavenger hunt, etc. Also we are waiting to hear what the Hall of Monuments rewards will be, there might also be some in-game store items as well as unique weapons or weapon skins and armor skins rewarded to Guild Wars players with Full Hall of Monuments.

I don't like comparing Guild Wars and WoW, they are two different games aimed at different people, I would actually prefer that WoW players keep playing WoW and don't join me in Guild Wars 2, because I already see what's going to happen, they will be comparing it to WoW from the get-go and a lot of hate and flaming will be going on in-game. It'll be like War of the Worlds, except full of Nerd Rage and lots of acronyms.

Hey everyone :D
I was building up a response this morning but ran out of time and had to get to work
Will do another post with images as evidence on why certain things "maybe" in opinion turn out the way they will
Little things I picked up on - still wanna go from post 1 and read everyone's views as I love other peoples input (open minded person here :D)

Well, since Warriors can now use a bow with their own unique skill set, why cant they also use a rifle?

Well way I find it is, you will get your 5 different races that each will bring their own little quirk to the game.
Sylvari:
The ability to manipulate the habitat around them in order to aid them in their battles - creating what looked like a veggie version of the Flesh Golem
Asuran:
The knowledge of technology and alchemy will be able to create their robots which one will be able to get into and pvp+pve with them.
Char:
Turning their backs on their Scourers and their magic, embarrassing the new world of technology - learn to craft new weapons, this would involved the rifles/shotguns/canons and looking at Ascalon they way they built it up now with HUGE canons cant wait to see them.
Norn:
Norn will once again rely and call upon their great spirits - wolf/bear and what seems eagle to aid them in strength in their battles
The only one I cant figure what they will bring to the table is the Human race lol ....
Guess will have to see when the time comes.

Of course each race you will be allowed to choose your profession - so be a Char / Warrior and you will have your guns :D

....I still think the Assassin is a good bet as well.

I got the pic ready and uploaded to imageshack but can't get link for work so will post it when I'm home when on lunch.
If you look at the Figure that is on the Ele's right (your left) in the Profession page on Guild Wars 2
You can notice if zoomed in a hooded figure how posses Daggers/Sai (think Rafael from TMNT :P) - also in the last video (on the home page of Guild Wars 2) when the one developer is talking you get a full pic of an Assassin. I'm busy with a lvl 27 Assassin in Aion and loving it, if the Assassin in GW2 is anything like Aion's (yes i know two different games) I will look at going Assassin in GW2. I still love my Necro from GW and the fact his main and off-hand can equip daggers I might make a Necrosin (i like to call him lol) I ll get into that theory another time lol.

Once again I loads of images that make me think in this line of thought but all I can say is .... the next best title for me coming out GW2 and cant wait for its pure beauty and for my great great great Necro Nephew to walk the world of new Tyria :)

The warrior can use Rifles...

Weapons
A warrior can use nine different weapons. He can combine any of the nine weapons available to him in 19 different ways. The warrior weapons are:

Main Hand: Sword, Axe, Mace
Offhand: Shield, Warhorn, Sword, Axe, Mace
Two-Handed: Greatsword, Hammer, Longbow, Rifle

Yep, Sou1Co11ector also showed me a while ago about the pic, so I guess the Assassin will be added.

For me, GW2 has taken over all games for me , I do play Heroes of Newerth, BFBC2 and Starcraft 2, but I just cant stop thinking of GW2 :P But, I am going to get my time invested into the other big G - Gran Turismo 5 which will keep me more busy; and less focused on GW2... well UNTIL its in BETA or something :D

Oh, btw will your great great great Necro Nephew be related to Charr in some way ? :D

I'm not sure on what race I'll be going with yet :D
Charr are still meh to me, cause of my 600 Speedbooking runs I did for my EOTN titles and their Archers are pure killers and hated them in the whole run lol - also their "models" don't look too appealing to me - maybe if they make it more individual hairs instead of clumps of hair (could show with an image what I'm talking about but work has its limits - think I'll post in a bit during lunch an image )
I was gonna go Asuran originally but they starting to look a bit funny - big heads with big eyes (but if the customization is anything like Aion I'm pretty sure it can be changed)
Sylvari = a Simple No
I thought about a 9ft Necro Norn Monster LOL but my main char is normally a serious thing - taking up to like 1 hour to make (well took me that long to make my sin in Aion)
Human's are just boring to me though lol, although my char in GW1 is human and his great great great Nephew is a Charr based in GW2 wonder who had an "adventure" down a weird love road with a Charr in the family tree o.O :D
