Guild Wars 2

They don't attend E3 because they say that it's not fan-centric enough. You pay a load of money to exhibit there but you can't really interact with your fans enough.

That, and apparently at the last E3 they attended there was a little issue with NCsoft getting fined due to excessive noise, and they haven't been back since.

Hey guys, I'm trying out the trial for Guild Wars, and it always downloads content as I unlock it. Is this also the case if you buy the game? It is a bit frustrating... Sometimes I have 30 mins to play, when I hit a new area and the download is, as you might have guessed, a 30 min download.

Sadly yes. there's quite a bit after you install via a DVD.

use "-image" command at the end of your shortcut so you can download the "Image" requiring you to DL less.

Has anyone decided what race and profession they going to start out with?

I will probably start with an Asura Engineer. I always liked anything mechanical and that uses ranged weapons. In DotA I would usually play Dwarven Sniper or Techies. In Heroes of Newerth I would play Engineer and The Wood Chipper.

I scanned through the races and professions but could not find any race limitations.

There are no race limitations :) There may be an affinity for certain classes - in fact I kinda hope they have something to that effect in the game - but there probably won't be, since ANet don't want to limit choices.

My first char will very likely be a Sylvari Elementalist - my second will be a Human Ranger or Scout. Still depends on the final class release though.

Charr, Human, Sylvari, Asura... everything except Norn for me.

I dont know what profession Im going to take really, the Engineer is the only one (at the moment) that is dissappointing; all the others are made so unique in their own ways; it will be like playing a new game everytime... maybe I will go for one of each if Im not bored with the game yet. All professions are very well done; going to be hard to find a favourite.

I may even play the (Overpowered) Warrior; the class I would never play in any games :p

You're banking on the fact of course that the mesmer will be included in GW2 :p

Well it's pretty much a given...the last profession has been confirmed as a returning Profession, a caster, the Mesmer has been mentioned extensively in the Guild Wars novels, and some concept art looks very Mesmer-like. Plus, it's only about the defining Guild Wars profession, so if they don't make a reappearance I'm sure very many people are going to be pissed!

Hehe ... I was just messing with you. Since the Necro and Ele have already made their returns, Mesmer is very much a favourite. Of course, the other caster left out of the picture is the Ritualist - a profession I've always considered very under-rated.

The Engineer is basically the Rit if you look at the abilities.

Ritualist - Summons spirits to fight for you.
Engineer - Places turrets to fight for you.

Both have the ability to attack with great force as well as provide healing.

I will be playing an Engineer in GW2 along with my Warrior, Thief and maybe an Ele.

So far I'm making a Guardian first (not sure yet which race) Then a Charr Ranger and then a hmmm, Asuran I believe, Elementalist
