Guild Wars 2

So after reading all those previews it looks like all the naysayers, the ones saying GW2 wont be all that unique and can't pull off what they set out to do were quite wrong. :)

I watched alot of videos, and read alot of articles, the only negatives seen anywhere were that is was laggy (only by some players, others didnt experience at all), so its just a matter of getting the balance right for performance, I guess for lower-end machines. I didnt watch any starter area videos, as I dont want to spoil the story too much, I have seen the PVP gear, seen the guild system, with its achievements. The achievements are very nicely done, going to take forever to complete everything. And then the WvW map, that is some epicness, all those outposts objectives etc that can be taken over. The map is huge. Tonight I want to finish downloading the WvW videos I didnt get completed, as one is on IGN (apparently the best WvW video seen on the web), and they stream crap slow, and you cant download.

Overall, everyone including alot of WOW players on their official forums finally seen the light, and most said cancelling subs upon release, amasingly positive for a WOW community.

Ugh I can't watch any more GW2 vids or read anything about GW2 anymore.I am spent from the excitment. From now on I am cuttingmysef off until release. It is too much to handle.

But on a side note.HOLY ODIN'S HAMMER it looks good.

I'm actually honestly considering doing exactly the same. Even skipping beta is an option now - so I can just experience the entire game in all its glory when it launches.

I'm so tempted to do the same, but at this point I have no self control and if given the option to play the beta I'd be like a addict being offered free drugs...

For me right now, watching these vids is just motivating me more to wan't to play this game. I think if I do play the beta I will try not to play too much of it and the best way of doing that is making lots of alts and testing all the professions out.

Already decided to skip the Beta.I don't want to sully this release in any way at all.Biggest game to come my way, I want to play it when it releases.

Until then I will stay away from info.A great game like this, needs to be a surprise, blows you away.No point in knowing everything before hand.Same thing applies to Valentines day and you unwrap your girlfriend.... er I mean present :D

Honestly, that is very nice solution that you have there... I was also fearing to spend too much on beta, but Im going to do majority of time on WvW, story is for official.

NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.No more.Shhhh.Must fight it.No beta no more.

Seriously, can't take it anymore.I recruited so many people to the GW2 cause now I think I might have my own militia by now.

See, you cant resist.. if you stay away from this thread (refusing to watch videos), we might just have to PM you with info spam!! :p

BTW: Spartan (and others of course!!)
GW2 Beta development Update
So they are changing a few things after the beta, and imo a better downed state...

Game Informer Preview.

I particularly liked this bit. :)

ArenaNet has been quietly working away for years now and hasn’t used the weighty words that EA threw around so freely, so allow me to do so for them: Guild Wars 2 does everything The Old Republic promised and then some. This is the actual MMO revolution we’ve been waiting for.

I think the Old Republic - at least in the bit of the beta that I played - focused too much on the dialogue - there was just way too much talking, which in the middle of an instance was ... how can I say it ... well, it broke the pacing. And as I stated previously, I wasn't a fan of the decision-making system.

So - looking at the changes they mention in that article you linked - it seems they pretty much went straight back to the dev as soon as the servers shut down - the way it's presented in that article makes it seem as if some of those changes have been implemented already.

So roll on March ... I'm looking forward to what's coming.

Sticking to WvW is a brilliant idea, although I suspect you'll still need to play through the starter missions before you can access it. But to be honest, I think we all know the human start off by heart already - I haven't seen any of the other races yet, so I'll play around with the various human classes and explore the PvP aspect of things :)

You did play ME did you ? Bioware went talk-a-lot since days of kotor. I prefer hearing my quests. However all that is really missing is the ability to interrupt the conversation like in MEx. It's rather old to read, do, read, do, read, do - that really feels so disconnected. Besides if you really want to pull a proper comparison.... well DnD PnP is talk-a-lot ;)

I finally watched the 45 minutes El_Mundo_contra_Mundo_MvM_de_Guild_Wars_2 aka "die epicness van WvW" ... or thats what Im translating it to. Hectic WvW footage, alot of players battling it out to conquer stuff. Oh, and gates and doors are OP :/

No, you're right - but in ME you could at least skip it. Especially if you were playing through the game again :p

But again, at beginning and end of mission/instance is fine - having conversations in the middle of an instance - not so much. Especially when you as a player didn't really have control over the direction the conversation was taking - it was left up to the roll of the die. It was pretty entertaining in the one group I was with, because it seemed like we had Darth Vader himself in our group. So it was worth a couple of lols, but I could see it getting annoying down the line if you relied on pick-up groups.

That was my impression anyways - you'll have a better idea of how the mechanics work since you spent a bit of time actually playing the release version :)

Some WvW action. :)

LOL.. the IGN movie; your youtube skills > mine... I actually tried 4 times to buffer this on the p.o.s. IGN site... couldnt get it shown. I'll maybe download this too, but the 45 min WvW I found instead of this IGN one was epic, I dont think this can beat it.
