The next BWE should be next weekend right?
The next BWE should be next weekend right?
The Guild Wars 2 SA group on Facebook, was abuzz with chatter, over character names. It seems to me, that some felt that the character name was of great importance. To me it was a case of, blegh, who cares…
The only thing I knew for certain were that she'd be human, a great, great, granddaughter of the once most powerful Elementalist who ruled parts of Tyria…
Here's a screenshot of some patch-notes from the previous BWE - all things that'll hopefully be fixed for the next BWE

Arguably, the biggest topic of discussion among Guild Wars 2 fans since the first Beta Weekend Event has been when the next Beta Weekend Event will be. ArenaNet Social Media Coordinator Rubi Bayer recently took to Facebook to give fans a bit of an update:
We know you are all very eager to begin the next Beta Weekend Event. Our community did an amazing job in the previous Beta Weekend Event and stress tests, providing our team with great feedback. Our goal has always been to do this right and treat the beta testing process as what it should be: a way to work out the bugs beforehand and give you the best game we possibly can at launch.
With that as our goal, the development team is working extremely hard to address your current feedback and prepare Guild Wars 2 for the next Beta Weekend Event. Once they’re finished, they’ll be ready for you to head back to Tyria for the next phase of testing.
We’re going to adhere to a monthly schedule as much as feedback and development allow, so it may be a little more or a little less each time, depending on how things progress. For now, we will have more information on upcoming Beta Weekend Events and stress tests as soon as we’re able, and we thank each of you for being an important part of the creation of Guild Wars 2. ~RB2
There has been speculation that this coming weekend — May 25th-28th — would be the logical choice for the next BWE. Why? Well, for one thing, it will be exactly one month since the first BWE, and ArenaNet has been clear with their hopes to run about one per month. Also, Monday the 28th is a holiday in the US, which means many folks are off from work. This would afford a long 3-day testing weekend, with more data for ArenaNet and more fun for players. Then again, I’m sure ArenaNet staffers might want to spend some of the holiday weekend with their friends and families, not necessarily babysitting the servers!
So, fair readers, what do you think this means? Is there anything to read between the lines here? Is this a “no way Jose!†for this weekend? Or is ArenaNet just holding the zombie horde at bay by setting expectations?
Wish they could get on with announcing the date of the next BWE so I can schedule for being a hermit.
While im very keen for the next BWE... if they still have the game CPU bound i probably wont play it. The jitter and lag at some points really grates me... sure the game is still in beta, but i dont have 2 graphics cards for nothing.
Dude I'm hoping they have that sorted out too. This game deserves to be played with a solid smooth framerate. I think a lot of the feel is being lost because of the poor performance.
As humankind we have ever sought to escape our mundane lives. Whether it was the tiresome mammoth hunt we wanted to avoid, the tedious cave clean-up after a night of hectic five-leaf-mumbo with the gods or if it was the late night stint in the Colosseum bludgeoning lions and gladiators, perhaps it was scrubbing pots in the galley as you rounded the Cape of Storms.
Maybe it was the drudgery of mopping the blood soaked floors of in bone surgeon's tent at Waterloo.

Many of you have been asking about when we will have our second Beta Weekend Event. As we are approaching a long weekend in many parts of the world, we understand that some of you want to make plans for that. To help you with that we can confirm that we will NOT be running BWE2 this coming weekend.
Our BWE1 was super successful, we exceeded our expectations. As some of you might have experienced first hand, this lead to some technical issues. To make sure we are not running into the same situation for BWE2, we recently had a stress test, and we are currently deploying a lot of additional hardware in our datacenters.
We will be able to tell you exactly when BWE2 will take place as soon as all the hardware has been deployed. We are not withholding a date intentionally, we want to make sure that BWE2 will be a really great experience for all of you.
I hope this helps a bit in understanding where we are standing – you all have a really relaxing long weekend! ~MK
