Guild Wars 2

I got the impression with BWE1 that Petrified Forest was as full as Jade Sea, with similar wait times and overflows. Perhaps it'd be better to jump on one of the new server, that hopefully is quite as packed as PF and JS..?

Well - ANet has added additional capacity and apparently the overflow issue is something they've addressed, but your point is pretty valid. And I'm sure there's going to be a lot of shuffling about with people trying to figure out where they want to be.

So - my main concern is that a server we move to gets taken over by another language community and the SA community (which is pretty small overall) gets overshadowed. I'd feel more comfortable moving over to a server which I know is UK dominated.

The server stuff is a huge concern for me too, has been since the first time I saw all over the internet specific language dominating a server.

I agree, there is no way to determine where people will move, like us there are certainly others wanting to jump over to others to make up a larger community. Ruins of Surmia was fine (just played stress test though), mostly saw English.

I would say everyone decide now, Petrified Forest was the suggested server by shadowfox, and if its already mostly English thats a good choice.

Its free to transfer for now, I really dont see why anyone would still want to stay on Jade Sea, as alot of you already previously stated its French mostly.

So, you have +1 vote for Petrified Forest then :p

Well - at the very least nothing is locked in stone just yet - since there are going to be character wipes before launch we'll have time to settle on something. If PF works out for us during this BWE, then great. If not - we should still at least have a choice on where we want to settle down.

If I remember correctly someone played on PF during BWE1 - can't remember who it was though - bushbaby? If we can get some feedback from there it'll help :)

Fair enough :D Just thought I'd mention my concern, I have no other qualms about going to Petrified Forest. I do agree, it seems the biggest problem we've had with overflow server has been addressed, so it'll be a lot less of an issue playing them from here on out. So long as the SA, or at least the MyG guys, stick together, it'll all be good in my books.

Nothing wrong with a role play server though? we had a MASSIVE discussion about this earlier in the thread... so why is RP an issue?

If the general consensus is to give PF a try this time around, I'd say let's go for it and scope things out. If it doesn't agree with us we can decide on an alternative for following BWEs and/or launch. ANet has already indicated there will be at least one more BWE coming.
 
I would suggest that in the next 2 BETA Events people scout for the most english servers and we make a list, and add it on a POLL so everyone can vote for it on MyG?

Doable. We can probably see about guesting on other possibilities and checking them out :)

There's no real point in distinguishing between PvP & PvE servers since the two game-types are completely seperate from each other. As for RP, PF is the only one that's been flagged as being RP, so we may as well just pick 4 or 5 servers and vote between them.

I'll scout some out this weekend - hopefully we'll still be able to guest without needing a friend present - and I'll encourage everyone else to do the same. I'd suggest focusing on the newer servers so we can see where people are gravitating to and avoid those which become to foreign-language dominated.

[EDIT] By the way, if anyone wants to track me down ingame my account name is shadowfoxza.2537 (I figure this will work better when searching than looking for char names)

Yea, we should check out the new servers as well, but will do some scouting myself from tommorrow, test each server out.
