So Wintersday starts 14 December, the day we close for the holidays. What perfect timing.![]()
Awesome. So I'll get a chance at it then, because I'm gone from the 22nd to the 31st. Was worried that I'd be missing out entirely.

Even if we go max damage, we still do less damage than most of the other classes, and we sacrifice both toughness and vitality, meaning that we go down when a rabbit glances in our direction.
Hahaha yeah thanks for the link.
Maybe it is because i'm sleep deprived, but I laughed my ass of to this.
Yeah just ask the ele who kicked our asses.
That's the difference between the pro players and those of us who are just casual. A casually played Ele is just about on par with a badly played warrior. I haven't managed to beat a thief 1-on-1 yet, but maybe I haven't been fortunate enough to bump into a bad one yet.
Thieves are just badly designed IMO. You can put traits in anything and as soon as you have 2 daggers you can get 10k crits easily.
Yeah ... ANet put so much time into balancing classes in GW1 it actually surprises me how much it seems to be neglected now. I used to take my Ele up against pretty much anything in GW1 PvP, and I could expect to come out on top about half the time.
Yes! I know back then RA you had to rely on your team mates (and pray they had build X or Y) and even JQ/FA and AB people "supported" each other, something that is seriously lacking in spvp at the moment. I would assume since all the skills are set it's down to trait building now.
BTW Shadow, did you get Scepter?
You guys do realize that a thief's only strong point is being a pain in pvp. They aren't worth anything in dungeons compared to most other classes.
I have yet to meet a thief that can beat me 1v1. Guardian <3.
As for PvE balance, squishy's are definitely hampered when doing dungeons and a full team of them will make completion nigh on impossible.
That's where the issue with class balance rears its head as well. As far as I understood ANet's philosophy, any combination of classes should be able to clear any of the dungeons, so theoretically 5 thieves should be able to do the job. I wouldn't want to see that attempt in practice though.
I'm sure if those 5 thieves each spec into a different trait they'll be able to do itThat's where the issue with class balance rears its head as well. Side note:
It is going to be a while before i do the bloody fractals again. Just wasted an hour of my life doing fractals, only to get dc'd on the 3rd one and now i'm unable to re-enter...
