Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2: Opinions?

Went to watch it last night and my overall opinion can be summed up with one word, meh. It's not that it was bad or not enjoyable, it just wasn't at all remarkable.

After 10 years of waiting for the finale, it felt very anti-climatic. Yes, I'd read the books before watching the movies, but even so, I felt cheated. It also felt very rushed. Almost as if some very important scenes were cut short to fit into the allotted time. Now I know the movie was already split into two parts and three parts would have been silly, but I feel not enough time was given to scenes that needed it.

And then the scenes that could have been shown dramatically and visually, like for instance the break-out of Gringotts Bank were such a let down. There was no flair or pizazz. No wow factor. Do not get me started on the 3D aspect of the movie. What a waste of time and money. There were maybe 5 times that you really noticed the 3D effects. The rest of the time I was just annoyed by the damn glasses or the fact that some scenes seemed to almost be out of focus. I really think 3D is overrated and if I had the choice, I would rather watch the movie in 2D, but sadly my regular cinema complex doesn't offer both option as they have limited cinemas.

On a side note, I still love Ster-Kinekor's love nest seats, just a pity I had to sit next to a dude smelling like a brewery!

You'd expect to walk out of the cinema after watching the final movie with a residual effect of pure... "WOW!!1!"
My mates and i walked out the cinema and it felt kind of awkward... Rio left more of an impression on me than Harry Potter 7 part 2 verse 9 :/ my opinion to anyone who hasnt watched it... wait for the DVD and go read the book in the meantime.

I've read all the books at least 3 times, and I found the movie to be enjoyable. It wasn't bad as a cinematic experience, and it's definitely one of the best films I've seen in the last 2 years. When the final battle started I was smiling nonstop. The scenes which inspired some heavy emotions mostly did the same in the movie adaption. Snape, Lupin, Tonks, etc, etc. Ofc people who didn't read the novels will be wondering wtf the dead Lupin/Tonks were, but hardcore fans of the movie series will still feel affected. The Snape scene was done really well imo. What I feel has let a lot of people down, and probably forced an overreaction on the ultimate opinion of the series, was the absolute final Voldemort/Harry battle and all the scenes afterwards. That last battle was incredibly dull, and afterwards in the hall, there was no cheering, nothing praising about the end of the biggest battle in the history of wizardry. Very anti-climatic. The breaking of the elder wand was also very wtf. And the 19 years later scene was the worst in all the franchise. Hermione looked 4 years younger, Ron looked pretty much the same, and Harry looked like a transvestite from The Rocky Horror Show.

Agree for the most part. I just didn't expect much so... But, That being said, I'm glad I got to finish the series! It is like the StarWars of our generation! We could have taken pictures of us infront of the posters of every movie and had a little slideshow of how we have grown up/old :)

Lol! Ron looked fatter, Harry looked gayer... Ginny was realistically older/uglier :P the 19years later scene was hillarious.

LAWL! You shared a loveseat with a drunk hobo!

Oh right, on topic...
I'm not exactly about to go shave a horse's butt out of sheer surprise, that the last of the long series of "Harry Potter and the SUCK OF MEH!" movies was also, in a word, meh.

After movie 2 I didn't bother.
My wife reassured me (after torturing herself to it, hehe) that I sure as cripes didn't miss a dang thing.

Loved reading the books and enjoyed the movies up until 3rd or so one, after that they got a bit meh.
Haven't watched the last 2 yet, I will be keen to watch them when release on blu-ray and not this 3D crap.

Never did like the movies because they were so rushed.. maybe if they split each movie into 2 parts and released them faster.. would've had a better effect. The movies made the story dumb.. except for hermione.. she got hot real fast hahaha books foreveeeeeer!

A Fail, anti-climatic. Focus on all the wrong points, too much changed and alot of key info left out. Dont waste your money.

Bookfags being bookfags. Look at the film only, and disregard your opinion of the novel. It's a good movie. A bad adaption maybe, but a good, enjoyable movie.

Thought it was meh compared to Part 1. Some really enjoyable parts and some terrible parts. I haven't read the books.

Idiot being Idiotic. You can not look at the film only, especially when they seem to have a huge issue with continuality in the films not to mention the complete lack of understanding in where the climaxes should be.

Bookfags getting mad. I read a lot. To support this statement, OmegaFenix, I know that "cannot" is one word, and not two, as you seem to think. Furthermore, if you read my first post in this thread, you'd know that I've read the HP series probably more than 4 times. You are supposed to look at the film as a single source of entertainment. It's not the novel, but it's the movie. As a film, there were several enjoyable cinematic aspects. Start comparing it to the novels and you will get angry about everything that's left out, or what could have been adapted better. However, the film series was an entertaining and comprehensible experience, mayhaps it did not include all the intrigue and subplots of the novels - but that's why it's a movie adaption. If you want all the intrigue, read the novels, because that's why they exist - to tell a story in more detail. Including absolutely everything from the novels in a detailed manner, while still keeping moviegoers - bookfags and non-bookfags both - entertained in an appropriate timeframe, is not practical. Which is also why the film currently has a 97% rating on rottentomatoes.

I read the books till number 5. The movies were always okay for me, number 6 sucked badly, but number 7, both part 1 and 2 I loved. Maybe its cuz I didnt know what was going to happen and couldnt compare it to the books. The only thing I didnt like about part2 was the train ending 19 years later. Seemed very... I dont know, just removed from what happened before. But I really enjoyed part 2, I watched part1 2 hours before going to see part2, made it really feel like 1 movie, so I cant compare the two seperately.
