Hearthstone Thread

Shit I'm loving this game! Been really looking forward to it and really enjoying it, coming from MTG. Though I don't think I'll be putting much money into it, if any.

What's your guys take on this and if you are spending, how much?

I am quite addicted but with the lack of co-op or raids or guilds I can't see myself spending money on the game.
Maybe if they introduce some of these features I'll get into enough to justify spending real money.

Haven't spent any money on it so far. Been happy to just do my daily quests until I get enough for an arena.

I think that at the end of the day unless you can play for hours a day, it will eventually become necessary to spend money to keep enjoying the game...

I'm starting tonight, what's the best starter class to get to grips with the game mechanics?

I like hunter but that's just my playstyle. The thing is, you'll have to play them all until you find the right one for you. It all depends on your play style.

well, the game will start you with Mage class to finish tutorials. after that, i recommend you level up Mage deck to 10 as it gives you gold to buy a pack :-) After that, you can either hit the free/ranked play or you can unlock other decks. i highly recommend you fight each other class to unlock all the decks. do NOT touch Arena, not anytime soon

You start with the Mage.. then as you play you unlock a random other class. so all about luck really :)

uhm...not really "random" in that you unlock other decks/classes as you beat them. the choice of unlock order is entirely up to you.

im busy with Hunter now and really digging it!

ROFL... ok, I thought it was random, I would not know about unlocking them when you beat them, cause I havent won many games, for me it felt random, but thanks anyway to clear things up, now im more determined to win

Well I've become quite comfortable with Mage. Simply put, it's the starter deck and it's the one that I have played the most of and grown accustom to. I'm actually quite enjoying her magic and got a decent deck together.

i was also quite comfy with Mage, but i made a point of unlocking and trying all the other Heroes. I have found Hunter to be quite powerful and i think i will focus on that deck build.

has anybody spent any actual money buying packs yet ?

Have spent more than I'd care to think about, absolutely loving the game though.

Although I am always disappointed by the RNG in arena, never draft a decent deck, my highest wins is 6...

How many wins do you guys usually get in the arena?
Do you have any rules you use while drafting?

All in all I average about 4 wins in the arena which is usually good enough to pay back the 50 gold for the arena ticket so I'm quite happy with how the arena works.

I pick most of the direct damage and removal spells that come and avoid any theme dependent cards (murlocs/beasts ect.) I also like to have a few solid 2 mana minions and enjoy a yeti or two.

So far it's not too bad. Kinda like a simplified MTG...

I beg to differ. It's a CLEANER and more STREAMLINED card game than MTG, which I found far to heavy to digest. MTG always came across as trying to be too clever and ending up being unduly fussy.

Hearthstone won me over instantly with its "easy to learn, hard to master" style. And I love the little touches of humour. Ogre Magi sound byte still makes me smile :D

I'm keen for some forumite games, so if you want some easy wins for your stats, add this noob : Hiro#2575
