Help DuncanBell buy an Xbox :D.

Hey all.

Ok I have decided to buy an Xbox.

My dilemma is i'm not sure what the difference is between all the models.

Honestly I dont need a harddrive on my Xbox, I'm basically going to use it for casual gaming, and from what i've seen, even with the harddrive in the Xbox, the loading times for games doesn't seem like a very big difference!

What also worried me, is in the description for the Xbox Elite, it says something about a better processor.

So please convince me and/or give me a valid reason why to buy an Xbox Pro or Elite, instead of a Arcade :D
 
I'm with Caboose, wait until the Elite come down and the Pro is removed.

I would avoid the arcade if you are interested in downloading XBLA games and demos.

It'll be dumb to buy one now. Wait till the Pro drops away and the Elite drops in price. Best way to go now.
 
Oh ok. Tinman I thought Xbox Live wasn't available in SA?

Ok when will this price drop occur?

Chaps, he already has his heart set on an Arcade ..... he's asking for reasons to show that an Elite or Pro is better than the Arcade at all ... or he's just gonna go ahead and get the Arcade ;)
 
+1 best bet is to wait for the time being, the 60gig pro might seem tempting now after the price drop, but it will prolly lose value quicly once the sku gets discontinued

I dont know much about the Xbox's. So what i'm asking is that what are the major diffferences between the models? Aside from a bigger hard-drive?

The only reason i'm saying arcade is because I dont see why I need anything more?

Elite : Its Black :cool: 120 Gig HD Wireless controls + HDMI support

Pro + Arcarde : Its white :eek: 60 Gig Hd (PRO) no hd (arcade) wireless control (pro) wired control (arcade) no HDMI support

Thats it pretty much

Oh yeah and you wont be able to download squat with the Arcade.

And correct me if im wrong guys never seen an arcade in my life ....

Arcade has no network
 
Difference is HDD's ............ if you don't want or need a HDD for Live!, then an Arcade will suit you fine ;)

The Arcade has HDMI Caboose and wireless controllers too ;)

Ok so whats Live! all about then? Aside from DLC, cheap games (Duke Nukem) and so forth?

Ok so basically the HDMI is a special Hi-Def output cable? I've noticed on some newer tv's that they have this port?

Ok last question, does the xbox have a cable (that i can buy seperately) to plug into computer screens? I have just bought myself a 23 inch wide screen monitor, and it has full HD.

BT Games had a cable for sale. Wasn't the "official" M$ version but it was R100 cheaper.

Bleh ill stick with official ones thank you, that way u got no hassles, and who knows maybe if u read the fine print it comes with a warranty :p
 
Ok, so this dreaded Red Ring of Death.

Does that mean if my xbox stuffs out my money has been wasted? Do i get a swop out? Sorta like iPods where you take yours in and they give you a new one?

Swop out, but with the elite u r less prone to it. Follow the other dudes post on rrod swop out procedure.
