Help DuncanBell buy an Xbox :D.

Oh hectic. Ok this springs another question :), if I download arcade games onto my external HDD, can I take it to a friend's house and play the games on thier xbox?

Or does that fall under the piracy section?

While this won't work for an external HDD, you can absolutely do this with the regular Xbox 360, as long as your friend has their console hooked up to LIVE. Signing your profile in will transfer the game licence to that console, allowing you to play it there instead. When you reattach it to your own Xbox, it transfers the licence back.

And before you ask, no - copying the game file to your friend's MU won't let them get the game for free. They'll only be able to play while your profile is present on the system. As soon as it's gone, the file will change to a trial version. :)

Ok so its basically like Steam, where only one person can log on at that time to play that game?

Er, kind of. Of course, lots of downloadable content allows for local multiplayer, unlike Steam. So, for example, Worms 2 Armageddon - if you take this on a hard drive to a friend's place and hook it up to their Xbox, you and your friend (and two others, yay) can play the game as long as your profile is present on the system. But as I've already said, your friend's Xbox must be LIVE-enabled and online for this to work.

Ah ok I see. Well I dont think i'll be taking anything anywhere, so everything will prob stay on my console.

Augh bloody Take2!!!! It said there ships in 1 working day. I emailed the guy after the deal had been made and he said no its takes 1-4 days. If I didn't hate incredible connection so much I would have told him to cancel my order, and refund me so that I can go and buy it myself.

Ok guys, Xbox has delivered and i'm all set up.

I downloaded updates for 2 hours and now my console is ready to run!!!

Only problem. I cant sign into LIVE since on www.xbox.com it says my gamertag is in South Africa. How do I change it to UK since there is no option to change the location directly?

I'm assuming by changing it to UK I can have full access to download LIVE games?

The easiest way is to create a Hotmail account, select the UK as your region, and associate this address with your Xbox Gamertag.

Ok I thought as much. Thanks Azimuth

Its just weird cos my gamertag with gmail said UK, then a couple of days later I somehow changed it... Dunno how :(

Ok so I deleted my old LIVE account, and made a new one with the same email.

Can anyone lead me step by step how to set this up so I can buy LIVE games?

Let me retype it out.

Depending on what u want either EU or US google a US or UK zip code.

Create a new hotmail/Live email account. and when u say zip code put the state and zip in there

hehe ok thats what i thought it was.

I've done that already but now on Xbox.com it asked for my billing details, address etc:(

lol dont ask me dude, never did the update most prob because u can now buy games directly off live with your cc

Anyone else know how I could set up my live account so that I can DL games?

As long as you have a working LIVE Gamertag - i.e. you can sign into LIVE on your console - you can buy stuff off the Marketplace. Don't bother filling in your billing details on Xbox.com.

Since SA is not an official LIVE region, however, you can't buy MS Points through your console, or from Xbox.com. Never fear, however, there are plenty of websites that offer MSP via email - and we even have a reputable local supplier over at www.mspoints.co.za. :) MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE POINTS FOR YOUR GAMERTAG REGION.

Be aware that some content banned in certain countries may not be accessible to you, notably any Gears of War and Call of Duty 5 DLC, as well as all the Games on Demand stuff. This is also due to region blocking.
