Help Voicy choose a phone !

or what about the 5310 Xpress Music I have that phone :D

And it can plug into you home theater system. :D :p

So apparently contracts are the way to go at the moment ...

What's the deal with top-ups etc.? What do I choose?

The MTN topup contract are nice... You can get a decent phone and if you take the eg. Topup 75, you get R75 to phone with and when that is finished, you can just purchase additional airtime.

I am on the topup 315s from vodacom.

I get 315Rand airtime a month, a very decent phone, Getting that new Sony ericsson with the 8MP camera this month, and when the mula is finished you just buy normal recharge vouchers.

I spend R175 every 2-3 months on calls/sms/gprs IF that. So I'm looking for an el-cheapo contract with a half-decent phone.

With what you spend, if on Vodacom, go with the R135 Top Up. You can get a decent phone on that, too (I think). If you use it mostly for messaging, and need a bit more, tack an sms bundle on there (I've heard people do that). That'd probably be something like R185. With the other contract stuff they slip in there, it'll probably be about R195-R200.

And the X1 looks awesome.

Excuse me for sounding like my dad, but R200 a month? Crumbs I'm way behind today's times.

Oh well off to the contract catalogs I go :/

voicy is it realy that hard to make a decision? what would happen the day your girlfriend asks: Chicken or beef? id go for Samsung Omnia.

What do you want to pay?

Can I point out the oddest thing on these contracts? The more you pay, the more you save. Really.
I was on the R375 topup (which I prefer because I can monitor). It wasn't enough, so when I upgraded, I switched to R590 topup. On this, the calls are about half the price. I use the phone extensively (mostly for Internet, but still a lot of calls and messages). I cannot seem to get rid of the money loaded on it! It is the oddest thing. Day 11 of the month - and I have made tons of calls where I was kept on hold forever, use the internet everyday for IM and surfing, and loads of messages too - and I still have R551.76. But they don't refund you for the unused balance :(

The only time I use my phone is when camper invites me for sushi - and even then I don't reply the 1st time round (stupid speaker is broken - ergo this thread).

If I make 3 calls a week it's a lot. But I often have business calls come to my phone quite often - and I get stuck in distant dorpies in the transkei quite frequently too - so it's nice to have , even just gprs, internet access.

My bro is selling a new HTC tytn *I think* - the alluminium one - for 3k, but i'd rather spend that cash on getting me a decent trail running Mountain Bike.

I suck - I know.

If you don't use it, there's no point in having it. Get a basic one and get a mountain bike. Simple.

Er, should that read your boyfriend, then?

Not quite...

It's not so much about me not liking girls as it is about girls not liking me.

Besides, relationships come and go...but epics are soulbound!

So... change their mind ;)
If you call yourself a geek, you find one who likes geeks. Simple. Or whatever else you think they might not like, I guarantee you can find one out there who will like it. :)

epics?

Oh wait, you're new here... you obviously missed my post referring that chicks are car guards :p

epics = epic gear = top range armor and weapons available in the massively multiplayer online role playing game: World of Warcraft. I'll let the rest fill you in.

I'll have a look.

EDIT: Linky for lazy girl?

And I actually don't have the attention span for something as in depth as a WoW game :). Sooo I will take your word for it.

This sounds like there is no rollover... that sucks! Vodascum I take it?
No rollover is stupid, I mean you vaaking paid for it!

It's one of the reasons I like MTN, they have rollover. I had R2000 on my one contract and used more than a thousand in December alone on just data.

Have a look at Cell C's contracts. I have a Cell C Casual Chat 100 contract for R115/month and surprisingly I got the Nokia N78 on it! I use my Vodacom contract's SIM card in the phone (as I won't actually *use* Cell C lol).

Nope. It rolls over. But if I can't use it in one month, what makes you think I can use one and a half times that the next month, and more the next month...
It's so silly; calls are so cheap at this level that I can't use it up.
