The firmware update bricks it even more.

After firmware update????
He should report that to seagate mate..That's bad!!
I havn't heard of anyone's seagate's bricking after firmware upgrade:confused:

Really, it's like a serious problem with them atm.

I'll check for a linky quick
As promised:

Read the last link especially, covering the release of the firmware that was supposed to fix stuff, and then instead bricking the drives.

Yes, they did release instructions and other firmware. Have heard thatit is still happening though. Am not too confident in them atm.
Imagine bricking your drive after doing a firmware update... data gone! hectic

The HD 4890 will be released in April and will have a 20% performance boost. It'll cost the same ... that is ... if you wanna wait.

That is what I should do...

But I have a buyer for my current PC, and I cant ask him to wait.

And I don't see local distributors selling it for the same as the 4870, they will probably milk it as usual. I predict it will come down to the 4870's price after 3/4 months

For that graphics I would honestly go with the 4870, the best card for that 22" in my honest opinion.

Phenom 920 is good but why not the 940 Black Ed?
