Here are 5 terrible movies based on games

A lot of movies will be bad compared to the game. Doom for instance wasn't that bad but then they had something great to start off with but didn't quite deliver so you're thinking "WFT? Only 6 monsters? This shouldn't realistically last more than 5 minutes."

As a standalone yet another zombie virus movie it would have been surprisingly good but they seemed to ride on the hype of the Doom title and compared to that almost everything is mediocre.

Doom's biggest failure for me was the fact that they caved in to the demands/howls/whines of the religious fraternity and turned it into yet another zombie-flick. I don't know whether including proper demons and all the references to hell would've made it any better, but the end-product was a slap in the face to most Doom fans.

As for the bolded bit - need I remind you that one of my favourite movies - Alien - only had one monster? (I could name others). You don't need hordes of baddies to make a good action movie :)

Btw ... how the hell do you spell WTF wrong? :D
 
I heard that the Dungeon Siege movies were pretty bad, howcome nobody mentioned those? I haven't seen them yet though, purely because I have never seen anything of them anywhere

Doom, yes. Tomb Raider was good enough not to be mentioned here.

Having unloaded Doom from my pc 15 minutes into the game (kark game, I thought), I wasn't going to stoop to watching the movie.
 
i reckon that prince of persia is the best that they made a movie of :) i can watch that movie over and over and over again :) o really hope that there will be another one coming out soon
 
Silent Hill wasn't too bad, but would have been at least twice as good if they cut all the scene featuring Shaun Bean. No offence to the actor, but the scenes with him only served to break you from the nightmare of Silent Hill.

Gladly I've not seen a single Uwe Boll movie and never plan to. :)

Edit: Honorable mentions go to Tomb Raider and Hitman. And yes PoP was probably the best of the bunch.

I was reading on here this morning that Take2 is rumoured to be working on a Bioshock Movie
With Take-Two perpetually rumoured to be working on a BioShock movie spinoff with Universal Studios...

That could be an awesome movie if it's done right. I hope they do it and that they do it well. It would be such a pity if they make a Bioshock movie and it's another crappy game spin-off

I also thought the Silent Hill movie was pretty good.
 
I loved the Prince of Persia movie, Tomb Raider was ok, haven't really watched it with paying full attention to it though.
silent Hill was pretty good. One of my favourite horrors actually. My gf didn't find it that good though so my whole master plan didn't work. O well lol
 
Final Fantasy - Spirits within was really rubbish... Advent Children was quite good and I enjoyed it, it was made by the creators of FF7 so they were more loyal to the fans which I appreciated.

Tomb Raider was watchable and I thought pretty well done. Still, not a good Lara Croft was displayed IMO... it was just too Hollywood.

Street Fighter with Jean Claude was awful.

I agree Bioshock could be an incredible movie, I really hope they make it. It'll be a hard one for pleasing the fans though, cuz the main character never says anything. So the story will need to have an overhaul, or at least, if they stick strictly to the game's story, they should only add-on dialogue for ... Jack was it? Eish cant remember the name. But I think changing fundamental elements of the story will be disastrous, look at Prince of Persia. Im a huge PoP fan and was expecting the PoP universe in the movie, but they changed the the way the Sands work, there were no sand monsters, I still think the prince should have no name, and they should've called him ''hey you'' or ''prince'' and Farah should have been in it. That movie was a huge disappointment for me.

Very true, although no matter what, they change the stories and characters when they make anything into a movie. Even when it's from a book. They will definitely need to do some character development in Bioshock, but it's a fantastic world and concept, so it could work out nicely.

Yeah. I would watch this movie just to see Rapture to be honest. Even if the movie disappoints.
 
Good director (not Uwe!!!) and a good effects company and Bioshock could be an awesome movie. They need to Pirates of the Caribbean it IMO.
