Hidden Gems

I thought I'd create a thread where we can recommend games that are totally awesome but hardly known (or mostly forgotten).

I'll start:

Future Cop: L.A.P.D (1998) - I had such a blast in this game a few years back. Apparently it didn't sell too well, but man was it awesome. You basically get to walk around in a mech dealing with bad guys. The multiplayer aspect was also very fun.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri (1999 - I think) - Probably the best RTS I've ever played. Truly a work of art. Basically you, as well as a number of other factions (either PC or other-player-controlled) work to populate a new planet known as Alpha Centauri. Your ultimate goal is total global domination, which can be achieved through research, warfare, urbanisation and the like. The mechanics are simple to learn but difficult to master, as it's rather complex. There's a whole host of different weapons, bases, and upgrades you can build from interplanetary missiles to children's creche's :D It's truly a joy playing it and the experience is also enhanced by a large number of cinematic cut scenes.

There's a rumour going around that an Alpha Centauri 2 may be in the works. I'd be so happy if that happened.

:eek::eek: That would be so cool dude...!!!

My fave underrated game would have to be Neighbours from Hell... I mean that game rocks! don't know how popular it is, but I loved it! Basically you play pranks on your hick neighbour and irritate him to heart-attack status. Think Home Alone pranks...:D

I really want this game again, it was awesome.

Alien Shooter vengeance 2007

Brilliant Multiplayer, lekker action packed campaign

Penumbra Overture, Penumbra Black Plague, Penumbra Requim

Fairly unknown "indie" series. FPS Physics driven survival horror. SOme of the best games I have ever played, and yet it's unknown to 80% of the gamers out there. A definite recommended play here. 2007-2008

Shattered Steel (1997 I THINK)

WAS way better than any mechwarrior game. PERIOD.

Microsoft Fury 1995-1996

Much better than hellbender and Terminal Velocity. awesome action packed shooter!

Nice thread Lydon.

Anachronox (2001) None of my friends have played it and it didn't do that well despite positive reviews. It's an RPG set in space. It's funny, got tons to do and has a brilliant storyline. A popular machinima film was later made about the story. I enjoyed it a lot!

Slave Zero ( 3rd Person )
Etherlords ( RTS )
Harbinger ( RPG )
Atrox ( Completely AWESOME Starcraft Clone )

Fear Effect 1 & 2
Parasite Eve 2
Porsche challenge (the one sony made on the ps1)
Kurushi (called IQ in some countries)
Ninja Shadow of darkness

ElastoMania... (ELMA)

This game kept me captivated for DAYS!

You're on a footups type scrambler and you have to ramp across obstacles to finish each stage. HIGHLY addictive and is only a few MB big...

You can also import custom maps made by other players.

I meant "in the works," but same concept :D

Can you imagine Alpha Centauri with 10 years of technological advancement added to it? *drools*

Awesome suggestions guys! I'm definitely going to check some of them out.
