Horror Games

I dont know how some ppl dont get scared, maybe they dont buy into the story and can disconnect from the game. When i saw those babies in Dead Space, needless to say i was freaked the f*ck out!

that was enough for me to not even start playing the game tbh

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

Buggy as hell, a few third party patches out that sorts out some of the issues. This game will scare the living doodoo out of you. Switch off the lights and turn up the sound.

Also check out the SCP-087 and other SCP indie stand alone games for a quick fix. Lots of these floating around. Good for a quick fix, very tense.

Check out the channels of these two guys for some inspiration on lesser known scare the snot out of you titles.

Psychological horrors like the Silent Hill series are the only types of games that freak me out. Jump scares don't work, Doom 3 being one exception. Dead Space was tense but not scary.

I have fond memories of that!

Man there was a game and for the life of me i cant remember the name, but basically it was a side scroller and u used ur keyb to change direction and ur mouse to aim. Use to give me the chills as a kid

i kaked off in dead space, i actually stopped playing. Also dont know if anyone played phantasmagoria, as a kid playing this game over

For me it was Doom 3, iirc. I lasted about 15 minutes before I uninstalled it. I can watch horror genre movies with ease, just cannot play them. even a game like HalfLife 2 freaked me out in parts :o

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl is the only game that properly scared and creeped the shit out of me.

That's true. I don't know if it was a bug or intentional because of the psychic presence in one of those underground X-labs, but it was super creepy when the door that was locked when I tried it flung open in the next second or two...

The idea of knowing something is there, hearing it, but, just not knowing where exactly... If at all - is what got to me.
Strange sounds. F***ing random objects levitating, then hurled at you...

*shrugs thinking about it*

I can remember one time at res at university, I was playing Doom 3 on a Sunday, the level where you actually go to hell. My friend decided to go to church, and I was so freaked out and feeling guilty for playing this game while they go to church.

Playing it correctly, I had the lights turned off, the music in my earphones up, and my nose almost an inch from the screen. I didn't ever hear them come into the room...

Needless to say, when they touched my shoulder, I nearly crapped the 7 colours of the rainbow in my pants. I flew back from my chair, broke my keyboard, and shouted like I was being sodomised by a angry rhino.

So that's my biggest scare ever in my gaming history. I don't play horror games anymore...

Juslaaik, dude. I can only imagine :D:wtf:

I never play with my headphones fully on. One ear is always free to hear my surroundings because my wife likes to sneak up and scare the kakas out of me like that too.

biatch:D

Do what I did last time that happened to me, KO your keyboard. I still feel bad from when my dog sneaked up on me in Dead space
