I pledged... (✯) Citizen. Enlist now!

Has anyone played it yet? I updated the client overnight. It was crawling along last night. Should be done by now. Will give it a shot tonight.

Nope, I started my client last night and it started patching then I logged in this morning and it found 3 more patches. First was 20MB, and the second one was 10GB...

Lycanthrope has played it and says it's pretty awesome, even though he couldn't use his own ship. I'm looking forward to trying it tonight as well.

When I left this morning it was busy with the last part of the 10gb patch, I'm hoping the last patch is much smaller.

Nice. Browsed the SC forums last night and damn, do people bitch and moan. Lots of people complaining about it being "too arcadey" and the shooting mechanics.

I loved Freelancer, so if it builds on that I'm sure it's gonna be awesome.

Some people should never be allowed into early access games.

Yeah, people whose ships aren't available yet get a temporary ship to mess around with. I got a Hornet. Where's the bathroom on that thing?!

Poor internet plebs :(

I don't understand how it's too "arcadey." Apart from the fact that there are only two options: free flight (in which you get to, you know, fly about) and vandul swarm, which is the shooty-bang-bang option in which you... shoot shit :p

The graphics are really pretty and the effect of the jets moving about to propel and maneuver your ship impresses me quite a bit :)

But yeah. You're in a ship, you accelerate, decelerate, have an afterburner, can rotate and you can point and shoot.

It's still just a demo of flight and combat. It'll get better over time, obviously, and there's a whole universe on its way. For now, it's a chance to play around with some of the mechanics, which is great.

Funny, that's exactly what I thought when I first got into my Aurora!

At the moment I think it'd be faster to come to your place with an external than to download :(

I'd actually prefer arcadey over sim-like. There are too many compromises that a sim-like would have to make in order to be fun.. For instance, in a sim, all the ships in the maps close to the planet (like at the PAX reveal) would be falling.. Not so much with the fun, then.

Only problems im getting are the following:-
1. Sometimes during load times, my pc will just restart (only with SC)
2. The controls need to be modified as I feel the turning when using a mouse should be auto centered when player leaves the control.
3. Player movements are chunky and when you got the prem hangar its not fun walking for 5 mins from one side to the other. Im not buying the buggie so its walkies for me.
4. Music is great, HUD voice is great, Weapon and ship sounds not great at all when you compare it Ellite Dangerous.
5. I could not lock onto a target, at all!

Otherwise this is panning out to be the best game ever.

So the Next great star-ship come to and end I am glad that team won it was one of my fav from the start.

Yeah, without SLI it's a lot better, feels very sluggish though.

Both FPS and flying? My box is pretty old, AMD Athlon II 2.9 GHz, and a 5850, so everything feels a little sluggish to me.. I got the impression, though, that the flight sluggishness is my Aurora, not the game engine. So much. :(

The flying feels a bit better than the hanger section, but still not great.

Also busy with the 15GB update at the moment. Do you guys also get slow download speeds for Star Citizen updates? I have never managed a full speed patch download for Star Citizen. The highest I've seen it go is just over 100 KB/s, and on average it hovers around 70 KB/s. I have a 4Mbps line.
