I'm done with Starcraft 2.

So you want to turn this into a cock competition now? Gee I'm really sorry that I have to actually work for a living and not spend 8 hours a day reading and posting on forums. Though when I do get a spare moment I do like to read people's opinions. And occasionally I like to post. In fact, I've been here longer than you have. Just look at the 'join date' under your name, big boy.

You say this game is shallow and repetitive, because of all the 'cheese' tactics. That makes no sense, because if there was no cheese, the game would be shallow and repetitive. Now some people catch you off guard, by doing something 'cheesy' and you rage quit? Or you probably one of those players that float off all their buildings and play hide-n-seek?

There is so much 'cheese' in this game, (that you don't know what they're going to hit you with next) and yet you say the game is 'repetitive'? You're talking in circles mate. So which is it? Are you saying there is so much variety in 'cheese' thats its repetitive? Damn, even I'm confused now

I've been playing 1v1's in the bronze league, aka the 'cheese' league and I enjoy every game because I learn something new. I've learnt to deal with 'cheese', just like you probably have learnt to deal with campers in your spawn base (which happens in every single BFBC2 game I've played - how 'original'). Or someone backdooring or item stacking or 'abusing' mechanics in other MP games. In fact cheese, is pretty common in all games.

Go back to mindlessly playing 1 map dota or playing the same maps in BFBC2. In the end of the day, its each to his own. I enjoy SC2, but I dislike DotA. Though, I don't go making attention seeking threads on how rubbish DotA is.

But this is just all my opinion, of course.

The only thing that's actually positive about this post is that it upped your post count to 148.

I'm a big fan of DoTA/HoN/LoL having clocked god knows how many months play time in those games, but, also a huge fan of SC2 =)
I think there is a fair amount of repetitiveness in both types, largely around the very early game. Beyond that things always get mixed up unless the match is lopsided.

100% though, they are Marmite games.

Define cheese? Is teching to thors "cheese"? Is using zerlings early "cheese"? Using chronoboost is "cheese"? So in your opinion what is a competitive game then? There are strategies, and then there are counters. Just because some players are seriously lacking in intellect doesn't make the game stupid or anti competitive or even repetitive.

This x100000000 :)

And beyond legit. Find a counter, each and every feature of the game has one.

Campers: Toob them.
Juggernaught: Toob them
Last Stand: Toob them
P90: Toob them
Toobers: Toob them
The toob rules all, even itself.

/wrights down
Any more advice master raven :O

I counter your Toob with my Deagle of Justice

what good is a deagle with no arms?

toob'd

wait, how does this relate to sc2. lol. i should really read the OP ^^

in response to the original post, you just need to get out of the lower leagues and u dont see much cheese. im in diamond and its very rare that someone tries any kind of cheese on me.

unfortunately its just a part of the game that you have to learn to defend. it definitely gets less as you go into the higher leagues tho

^Yeah you need to chill out on the Starcraft playing, maybe join the army, go paint, write some FanFics for a while...Just kidding, but seriously, that's impressive.

I must say the competition this weekend was some of the most fun I've had in SC II. AWESOME tactics, great players, great games overall. The final match in my group was a tie breaker between Terran and Zerg. Terran went reaper rush, Zerg went Banelings/Speedlings and did it amazingly fast. Match went to Zerg in the first 5 minutes.

3v3 and 4v4 are annoying as shit. They're honestly utter crap. If one person doesn't defend their base well enough, you lose. So stick to 1s or 2s, they're awesome.

/ragequits.

seen plenty of whine threads from people who are losing to cheese.

its just a part of the game, you have to learn to defend it.

it can be pretty frustrating, but if you hold it off your opponent is totally screwed. its really satisfying owning a cheesing player :) and like i say, once you make it to higher leagues you see it extremely seldomly.

I'm really at quite a loss for words. I didn't read this entire thread but...

In the beginning I lost to cheese. I was protoss tower rushed, so I decided to try it. I won my first 3 game streak that way. I then started defending against it.

Each time someone does something that I want to deem "cheesy" I have a look and come with a counter. Starcraft 2 is a multiplayer game. I wont even go as far to say a competitive game, because you don't have to play competitively. If you rage and wana stop playing something that you payed R450 there are 3 options.
a) You are taking it too seriously. Chill out.
b) You are not taking it seriously enough. If you really need to win that bad, go read some strat guides.
c) You obviously bought the wrong game and were actually intending to pick up Hoyles ultimate Card Game package. Spider Solitaire vs 7.3 ftw.

I fell into to class (a) for a while. I don't want to be a competitive starcraft player. I want to relax and play some good games. Since then I've been cheesed and it's great. because if I ever get that bloodlust just to win then I know I have a sneaky cheese in the pocket.

Also I agree with someones comment of define cheese. I think terran MMM is cheese. I think siege tanks are cheese. They probably arnt but they frustrate me.

Pretty much a FIVE STAR POST until the last bit about MMM and Siege. You can possibly say that they're overpowered or that Terran is overpowered but that's highly debatable and falls outside of the scope of what cheese is. It would be like saying that a proxy Pylon and Warpgates is cheese, but they're not, even if you place one in the corner of your opponent's main out of his vision. Perfectly viable stuff and part of the game.

A list of cheese strategies

Over this last weekend I was hit with:

1) A proxy Gateway Zealot rush which I gg'd in 4 minutes and now I feel like I have to wall off my base when playing against Protoss... and I really hate walling off my base.

2) A 6 Pool Zergling rush which I only just scouted in time and won thanks to my halfway constructed bunker by the time the first wave was dead.

I've played some Reaper rushers but once you know what they're up to they're easy to defend, just spread your marines out in your base and he'll have to start building other units.

I haven't played a cannon rusher yet.

How did you get yourself out of class (a)?
I also want to play for fun, but that meant not playing at all, or coop against the AI. My nerves can`t handle it.

I also want to know! I really like this game, I want to play it so bad but everytime I just sit in the menu, deciding whether to play but don't because I'm just too flippen scared of getting owned out of my bracket.

They should make a charcoal league for people like me, who want to build a row of cannons across the entire map, and have 200 supply of carriers.
