Is gaming an addiction?

If I take leave for CoD each year does that mean I'm addicted :p?

I definitely think gaming can be an addiction, that's for sure, but anything in life can become addictive. I game most evenings and due to my insomnia I generally get in around 3-4hrs (10-2am) but if I can't jam I don't go cold turkey. I haven't jammed in 4months solid due to work  :(

I think people are a little too quick to tag 'anything you spend a lot of time doing' as addictive.

Some people spend 5-10hrs a week at the gym or entire weekends hiking or camping, yet we generally don't often question if those activities are addictive.

You can spend an unhealthy amount of time doing just about anything, even washing your hands, but most of the time that is down to the people doing those things rather than the activities themselves.

You make a vaild point, but I think you've diverted from the topic though.

"Is gaming an addiction?" and not "What can be classified as an addiction - and why?".
