Logitech G35

Hi all,

Am looking at getting a gaming headset. I've read a few reviews on these where some complain about build quality and being uncomfortable and then you read others that claim the opposite. Anyone here with these who'd care to comment if they're worth it?

Thanks in advance,
S1ght :)

Don't go for g35 I've used them and my current ones corsair vengeance 1500 which are remarkably cheaper and better

A friend of mine will say the 1500's are better as he had a pair on g35's as well.

The g35's do have programmable buttons on the side but IMO the quality (both sound and make) isn't that good :)

G35's are awesomeness!! Just a little bit heavy.
I have Corsair Vengeance 2000's as well and they are awesome for gaming, but recently after installing the latest dolby driver for them, they started crackling and I was forced to rma them.

My list:

Logitech G35's
Corsair Vengeance 2000
Roccat Kaves

I used the G35's for ages. Good headphones, but I found them uncomfortable to use with my glasses. Now I use the Sennheiser PC360's and don't want to take them off, like, ever!

Hmm... I did read about those Corsair Vengeance. They said out of the box it sounded a lil' flat but then with some tuning they are really good + they are much cheaper :) And I had forgotten about those Sennheiser PC360s. How is the sound in comparison to the G35? I'm not really much of an audiophile but I'm pretty used to the clarity from my Logitech Z5500 :)

PC360's are right up there in terms of quality. I doubt you'll find many, if any, gaming-grade headsets that are better. Pricey, but worth it.

How much are they? Can't seem to find them at any of the normal online places? Would you get them at proper Audio shops?

Edit: I also imagine that with something like Sennheisers it'd be a good idea to couple it with a decent sound card?

Now that you mention it I can't find it either. Takealot always had it before. Now all I can find is imports. Heh, maybe call Sennheiser SA and find out if there is maybe a stock shortage, or which of their clients has stock. Should be around R2400-R2800.

So the price of two Logitech G35's :P That'd be a difficult decision. I know the money I spent on my speakers was definitely well worth it and they've lasted a 6 or 7 years now. Would a high quality pair of headphones last the same?

Depends how you treat them. With speakers, they mostly just sit there and there's almost no fiddling with the cables. The PC360s have have volume control on the ear cup and though the connectors are sturdy, if you're always plugging them out and in and messing with the volume you might wear them out. If you handle them carefully and rely on another volume controller they'll last a long time.

I think they might just be too much for me price wise :) Cause it's going to be those and I'd have to think about a new sound card if I really wanted to get the most out of it which is another 1k :)

@Joker - You mentioned the Corsair Vengeance 2000. What you think of the 1500 or 1300? Not really keen on Wireless :) I took at look at the 2 and the 1500 aren't too bad price wise but it's USB. The 1300 I could at least pair with a sound card of my choosing or even try my onboard sound which has Dolby Headphones which to me I think sounds like the better option?

I also have a pair of 1300's. All in all not a bad headset. One of the best in that price range. You'd need to play around with your settings to get the most of them, though. They'll definitely sound much better with a sound card. They're also pretty comfortable and light.

Cool. Thanks for all the input :) What sound card are you using btw?

Currently I have this set

But have pretty much moved them across to my tv with my HTPC for now but I'm hoping to get a proper set for my eventually so they'll probably move back to my PC in the future.

Sorry but I don't know too much about Sound cards these days. Last I looked everyone was getting those Creative X-fi cards :p
What's generally different between them? I mean if you compare your card to like the Xonar D2X?

Well the D2X would probably have very good channel separation. If you like your sound effects this means you'll hear much better and more clearly from which speaker a particular sound came. Since you have a very good set of speakers, you might hear a difference between my card and the D2X. But likely only if you're really looking for it and have played around with your settings quite a bit.

I'd go for an all round card like the Xonar DX. You can just use the software it comes with to tune your settings a bit and you're good to go. Either way, even a low-end soundcard will outperform onboard sound by alot. And the better your equipment the more evident this is.

Like, if you ever get yourself a set of Sennheiser HD800s (real audiophile headphones) the above soundcard wouldn't cut it. You'd need something even more powerful with an amp to drive those 300Ohm baddies

Well thanks guys, I went ahead and ordered a pair of the Corsair Vengeance 1300 and an Asus Xonar D2X. Figured the sound card would come in handy for use with my speakers and if I ever went the Sennheiser route down the line :)

May i ask why u got the 1300's?

Over the 1500's? I figured if I get a nice sound card, it'll help with my speakers and it'll open up the path if I did want to get a nice pair of Sennheiser that would require a nice sound card. Basically I didn't want to be tied to the USB port with the headphones. Then there are things like the 1500 will tie up a USB port; Things like I've read sometimes it'll bug out and to get it to work again you'll need to plug it in and out; it requires drivers to use. So general things like that I guess :)

Well I've had no issues with my 1500 but hooking a 5.1 system to a proper card must be awesome.
