Logitech G35

I have found the 1500's trumps g35's in fps gaming. And in all other aspects of sound quality.

Just my personal experience :)

Even without the drivers it still sounds amazing. Just switched to my server to test if it works without drivers and is perfect.

Simulated 7.1. It creates the illusion of surround sound. That's my guess.

But it's also only a Stereo Headset isn't it? So surely with a decent sound card it's not really going to get much (if any) of an advantage?

The G35's are "surround". The software creates the 7.1 effect. It's not true 7.1, perse, but kinda sounds like it. The G35's are USB so they aren't affected at all by the soundcard.

There's a big debate over true vs simulated surround sound in headsets. I'm on the third side that doesn't buy into the idea of surround sound headphones in the first place. If you want surround, buy a proper speaker system. I've used the G35's for years and can honestly say the "positional audio" is better on my stereo Sennheiser PC360's.

I don't really buy into the surround sound in headphones either. You just have to listen to those positional sound demos like that Barber shop 1 (hopefully you guys know what I'm talking about here :)) but point is it's not essential to have surround headphones with dedicated drivers to get that surround effect.

Well speaking about surround sound I was playing Blops2 with my Roccat Kaves on... And no lies, I looked back to see if someone was calling me, only to find out its only some guy in the game calling his buddies to shoot me.

I have a roccat kave 5.1 wit ha xonar soundcard and the G930 headset . Basically G35s that are wireless. And i can hear about 20% better with the EMULATED sound than with the 5.1 direct sound. Especially in call of duty titles. I am saved by my headset more often than not and a clan mate of mine moved from a corsair 5.1 headset to the G35s and confirmed how I felt about it.

Well they both finally arrived today so I've had a lil' bit of a chance to play around with them :) So far I'm liking the sound stage compared to my old paid of Phillips headphones. They do feel like they're lacking in the volume department though but I'm hoping the more I play with the Xonar settings, the better they'll sound :)

I think I'll have to give a better review once I've fiddled more with the settings and worn them in a lil'. Thanks to all in the thread for their input :)
