Lord of the Rings Online

Are there any Lord of the Rings Online players still around??

I'm considering downloading the game, now that it is free and all ...
Although apparently COG (the account management people) have some big stuff going on at the moment. I'll have to google for more information.

I used to play LOTRO. Still have the client, but am quite outdated with the new patches etc.

The EU accounts used to be handled by Codemasters, but i received an email from them last week stating that they are handing over the EU accounts to Turbine (they handle the US accounts). Have no idea why they doing this though...

Yea im still playing and i always will (Level 65 hunter - Sergeant-at-Arms - Dragon rider <--- Me showing off) Ive been playing it for a good year or four and i still love it. Join Server Evernight if you downloaded the EU version and i could hook you up with some jewelery or armour ;)

I would definately still play it if I can get the updated client somewhere. :) Luckily I was a pay to play client before it became free and as such have a few extra things compared to what the new people joining get.

Btw, how do i get the two expansions? Can't buy them separately in SA afaik...

Firstly i think it would be great to get a local Kinship going.

The Mirkwood expansion is electronic download only, as for Mines of Moria, i have no clue. If i remember right i think that you can buy both on the LOTRO store.

Yeah, COG is busy migrating all the account control back to Turbine in the EU regions. I would hold off on downloading the client until later this week. Content Update 3 is going live on Thursday so it'll be better to rather wait and get the latest client instead of waiting to download.

I will probably get the game at the next lan I attend. All MMO's are gonna have to wait when Guild Wars 2 is released. :D

Loved LOTRO, was the best story driven MMO I played and the best graphics too, until I started playing Rift. It still has the best community too.

i want to start playing LOTRo but if i download it from EA dose it come with all the updates and patches? because its only 10 gigs

I think there is a LOT of patching. Your best bet is to ask around on the game forums if you can get in.

Its awesome that this thread was started, because I will probably pick up a client today myself and slowly start playing over the next few weeks.

Please do let me know what realm you guys are interested in playing on. As someone said above, it would be great to have a local kinship.

Well, I know that currently there is a big South African presense on Snowbourne (I have a low level Loremaster there), though I haven't joined a kinship there yet. I also have another character (a mid level Rune Warden) on Evernight.

Used to be a SA Kin called Prophecy, its empty now. I can recommend The Suffering, great group of people.

Ive been playing on the Evernight server ever since i started, i know a few people there from SA but dont think there is a Kin. If you guys go Snowbourne im not gonna join cus all my friends and characters are on evernight.

Well ladies and gentlemen, which one shall it be? Evernight or Snowbourne? I'm really a noob at LOTRO, so I have no idea what to base the decision on.

I've been playing it on and off the last couple of years. There are a few SAFAs on Evernight. I tried going back to WoW last week but LOTRO really trumps it! If you're in need of patches in JHB East let me know! If you're with WebAfrica you can download a slightly outdated client from their FTP server - might need a 500mb patch - nothing huge.

Wow. LOTRO is free? AWESOME!!!!!
Can anybody give a proper link so that I can get my tiny 384kb/s adsl to download that mofo.
I'm so damn keen on a good RPG you wont understand, but I don't have the money to buy a game.
I don't get a lot of time to play games these days, but I will be sure to give this a good bash.
