Worse news is that while the game will be available on competing digital distribution platform Steam, it’ll take a while to get there – so if you’re a PC gamer intent on playing Mass Effect 3 at or around launch date you’re forced to do so through Origin.

Just read this on lazygamer:
4) Will ME3 be available on Steam?
During initial release Mass Effect 3 will be available on Origin and a number of other 3rd party digital retailers, but not on Steam at this time. Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content. We are intent on providing Mass Effect to players with the best possible experience no matter where they purchase or play their game, and are happy to partner with any download service that does not restrict our ability to connect directly with our consumers.

Ofcourse that is EA's agenda. I would also just prefer using steam but not going to miss out of the game just because of origin.
My Super save the Universe Save file is on PS3, so that is where I will be playing it.
Else it would have been PC, I have no hangups over Steam or Origin.
Or would I be able to download a 'perfect ME2 save' and import that into the PC version?
Edit, nevermind think I can do just that

Where did you see this? The issue with the dlc is that steam wants it sold either exclusively through their system or at least on their system and another. EA wants all dlc sold through origin , that's the issue...
