Microsoft to Pull Complete Reversal on Xbox One DRM Policies

Yes sony is very honest even when they got hacked last year and 90 million user credit card accounts got exposed

Did anyone report any Credit Card Fraud After this?

I got 2 free games in return and I use Pre-Paid credit cards or Voucher. If you feel save to leave your credit card details all over the internet then that's your baby..

I will take it either console on their merits now, when the time arrives. However, after a definite no to the XBox One (I had an original XBox and two 360s), it is now back in contention.

Let's see how pricing and availability in South Africa plays out. Obviously, if it doesn't get launched here around the time of the PS4 it may be too late.

Personally, I'd have preferred if they'd "Steamed" it instead of fully back-pedaling... Because as I mentioned in a few posts I kind of got their somewhat progressive vision, it's just how stringent they were going as opposed to Valve that bothered me. In any case this has set any interesting precedent for how companies deal with consumers and vice versa.

I called this... Can't remember which thread, but I did :D
I've known Microsoft to take a hard stand and then backtrack a while later. Windows 8 and Windows Blue (8.1) as example. It is very unlikely for a company like that to commit suicide in a particular market.

That said, perhaps if they presented these changes better like marketing it as a console with Steam-like functionality with much cheaper prices for games, it might have gone down better. One of my main reasons for not playing console is the price of new games... well, I actually only have two main reasons really: That and the lack of use of keyboard / mouse in games.

I just don't get how stupid Microsoft was with this move. There were tons of outrage throughout the last few years with games that need to be online 24/7 to play. People hate restrictive DRM, EA should know this better than anyone else. They also must have done market research and probably knew that there will be outrage but they were arrogant enough to go ahead with their plan anyways. Probably because they thought that the advantages of game sharing, accessing your media content anywhere etc. will be enough to persuade the consumers, but they didn't even send that message across well at all.

Microsoft seriously need to step up their game right now if they want to compete with PS4, especially with the higher price point. There most likely will be a subsidized version, but only time will tell.
